Starting today, snapshot prices for Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) volumes (including AWS Storage Gateway) are reduced by 47% in all regions. Snapshots are typically used to capture a point-in-time backup of the data on EBS volumes, and can be used to instantiate multiple new volumes, expand the size of a volume, or move volumes across Availability Zones. Changes to snapshot pricing are retroactive to the beginning of the month (August 1, 2016); the new snapshot pricing is in effect today. During the month, your billing estimates may not reflect the reduced prices. They will be reflected in the statement at the end of the month.
