Stephen Rea was at the James Joyce exhibit At the Irish-American Heritage Center in Chicago, special guest, Irish actor Stephen Rea, gave several riveting and rousing readings of excerpts from the work of one of Ireland's national icons, writer James Joyce.
Several singers, musicians and actors contributed to the evening's celebration of Joyce, but Academy Award-nominated Rea, who came with the exhibit from Ireland, was the draw. His talented transformations of the difficult Joycean sentences into clear pictures was a treat for the audience who hung on his every word.

"Before Jon became the world famous and respected composer he is today I had the privilege of doing some sessions with him. This is something that we started 8 or 9 years ago and the original idea was less than 90 seconds long. I always loved the feeling it gave me so I decided to develop it for this album as I felt it fitted into what I was trying to say. The words came last and this extract was shown to me by my friend and one of Belfast’s finest actors Lalor Roddy because he thought it had a lot in common with a short film I directed called ‘I AM HERE‘ which deals with family and reconnection in the after world. It comes from a book called AENEID VI which was the last work Seamus Heaney translated before he passed which made it even more special as I consider this to be a very Northern Irish themed album. When I first read it I was stunned by the similarities and wrote a letter to Mick Heaney (Seamus Heaney’s son) asking for permission. The Heaney Family gave me permission which I am forever grateful for and the next step was securing the voice of another Northern Irish great, Stephen Rea. A huge thank you to Stephen and the Heaney family for helping me make this happen. It was a perfect way to finish this album. "

Stephen Rea
Stephen Rea (/ˈreɪ/ ray; born 31 October 1946) is an Irish film and stage actor. Rea has appeared in high-profile films such as V for Vendetta, Michael Collins, Interview with the Vampire and Breakfast on Pluto. Rea was nominated for an Academy Award for his lead performance as Fergus in the 1992 film The Crying Game. He has during later years had important roles in the Hugo Blick TV series The Shadow Line and The Honourable Woman.
Early life
Rea was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the son of a bus driver. He attended Belfast High School and the Queen's University of Belfast, taking a degree in English.
Rea trained at the Abbey Theatre School in Dublin. In the late 1970s, he acted in the Focus Company in Dublin with Gabriel Byrne and Colm Meaney.
Career
After appearing on the stage and in television and film for many years in Ireland and Great Britain, Rea came to international attention when he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for the film The Crying Game. He is a frequent collaborator with Irish film-maker Neil Jordan. Rea has long been associated with some of the most important writers in Ireland. His association with playwright Stewart Parker, for example, began when they were students together at the Queen's University of Belfast.

Stephen Rea was at the James Joyce exhibit At the Irish-American Heritage Center in Chicago, special guest, Irish actor Stephen Rea, gave several riveting and rousing readings of excerpts from the work of one of Ireland's national icons, writer James Joyce.
Several singers, musicians and actors contributed to the evening's celebration of Joyce, but Academy Award-nominated Rea, who came with the exhibit from Ireland, was the draw. His talented transformations of the difficult Joycean sentences into clear pictures was a treat for the audience who hung on his every word.

"Before Jon became the world famous and respected composer he is today I had the privilege of doing some sessions with him. This is something that we started 8 or 9 years ago and the original idea was less than 90 seconds long. I always loved the feeling it gave me so I decided to develop it for this album as I felt it fitted into what I was trying to say. The words came last and this extract was shown to me by my friend and one of Belfast’s finest actors Lalor Roddy because he thought it had a lot in common with a short film I directed called ‘I AM HERE‘ which deals with family and reconnection in the after world. It comes from a book called AENEID VI which was the last work Seamus Heaney translated before he passed which made it even more special as I consider this to be a very Northern Irish themed album. When I first read it I was stunned by the similarities and wrote a letter to Mick Heaney (Seamus Heaney’s son) asking for permission. The Heaney Family gave me permission which I am forever grateful for and the next step was securing the voice of another Northern Irish great, Stephen Rea. A huge thank you to Stephen and the Heaney family for helping me make this happen. It was a perfect way to finish this album. "

เรื่องย่อ : ยี่สิบปี..หลังจากการหายตัวไปของบุทช์ แคสสิดี้ (Sam Shepard) จอมโจรผู้มีชื่อเสียงโด่งดังแห่ง the Wild Bunch gang ที่มีประวัติปล้นธนาคารและปล้นรถไฟมาอย่างโชกโชน ด้วยวัยชรา.. เสือเฒ่าได้หลบลี้หนีกฏหมายไปใช้ชีวิตอยู่อย่างสงบ..ในหมู่บ้านเล็กๆชื่อโปโตซี (Potosi) อันห่างไกลในโบลิเวีย (Bolivia) โดยใช้ชื่อปลอมว่า Blackthorn แต่แล้ว..วันหนึ่ง แบล็คทอนก็ได้ยินข่าวเรื่องการตายของเอ็ด(Etta Place) เพื่อนร่วมแก๊งคนสนิท ซึ่งทำให้เขาตระหนักได้ว่า..การมาอยู่ที่มาอยู่โปโตซี..แม้จะเงียบสงบ..และห่างไกลจากการไล่ล่าของมือกฎหมาย แต่มันไม่ใช่บ้านที่แท้จริง..และเขาไม่อยากตายในที่ห่างไกลบ้าน..เช่นนี้ ดังนั้น แบล็คทอนจึงเขียนจดหมายถึงไรอันหลานชาย บอกว่า..ในไม่ช้านี้ เขาจะกลับไปบ้านเกิดยูท่าห์ (Utah) แบล็คทอนเริ่มขายม้าที่เลี้ยงไว้และถอนเงินที่ฝากธนาคารทั้งหมด $ 6,000 และออกเดินทางกลับบ้าน แต่ในระหว่างทาง.. เขาถูกชายชาวสเปนแปลกหน้า( Eduardo Noriega ) ยิงใส่..และทำให้ม้าตกใจ..วิ่งเตลิดหนีไปพร้อมกับเงินทั้งหมด แบล็คทอนโกรธมาก..แต่ชายชาวสเปนคนนั้น..เสนอว่าจะชดใช้เงินคืนให้.. หากแบล็คทอนช่วยพาเขาไปเอาเงิน $ 50,000 ที่ซ่อนไว้ที่เหมืองร้าง.. ซึ่งชายชาวสเปนได้ปล้มมาจากเหมือนดีบุก เขาจะแบ่งเงินให้กับแบล็คทอน และนี่เอง..ที่เป็นจุดเริ่มของเรื่องราวการเดินทางกลับบ้านที่น่าตื่นเต้น..ของเจ้าเสือเฒ่า เสือลายครามแบล็คทอน เรื่องราวจะดำเนินอย่างไร ?.. คลิกดูได้เลยครับ : http://nungcowboy-dee.blogspot.com/
