Waste and wastes are unwanted or unusable materials. Waste is any substance which is discarded after primary use, or it is worthless, defective and of no use.
The term is often subjective (because waste to one person is not necessarily waste to another) and sometimes objectively inaccurate (for example, to send scrap metals to a landfill is to inaccurately classify them as waste, because they are recyclable). Examples include municipal solid waste (household trash/refuse), hazardous waste, wastewater (such as sewage, which contains bodily wastes (feces and urine) and surface runoff), radioactive waste, and others.
According to the Basel Convention,
Under the Waste Framework Directive, the European Union defines waste as "an object the holder discards, intends to discard or is required to discard."
There are many waste types defined by modern systems of waste management, notably including:

That means most of our solid waste goes to landfills and incinerators - including recyclable items like paper, glass, metal and plastic. Massive amounts of food waste that can be composted is clogging landfills, creating dangerous greenhouse gases. Many cities are starting to tackle this problem by implementing policies to help curb the waste by recycling and composting more. It's known as the "zero waste" movement, and San Francisco is on the forefront. Other cities that have zero waste goals include Portland, Seattle,...

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is on a mission to change the way we think about waste, by challenging supermarkets and the fast food industry to drastically reduce the amount of waste they generate. We live in a country where one third of the food we produce never gets eaten, and the average family bins £700-worth of food a year. Hugh believes something needs to be done. First he confronts ordinary shoppers in the supermarket, armed with a wheelie bin. He's going to try to take their shopping off them before they have even left the store... after all, they are only going to throw it away later in the week, so why not save them the bother of taking it home? Then he heads to a parsnip farm in Norfolk, where he uncovers the truth about the supermarkets' strict cosmetic standards, which means th...
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is on a mission to reduce the amount of waste that Britain produces. The good news is that all the British supermarkets make big bold claims about how little waste they produce, but what does it really mean? Hugh joins up with skip divers Sam Joseph and Catie Jarman, on an illicit midnight supermarket bin raid to rescue perfectly edible food that was destined for the dump. If Sam, Catie and Hugh hadn't intercepted it, all this good food would have gone to a place called anaerobic digestion (AD), where food waste is turned into energy. This is fine if it has gone off or spoiled, but surely if it is edible, it should be given to people? Hugh then finds out that it is not just food coming out the back of the supermarkets that is going to waste. Most of the waste in...

Food waste is the single-largest source of waste in municipal landfills. According to the EPA, 35 billion pounds of food were thrown away in 2011. As it decomposes in landfills, the waste releases methane and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Meanwhile, 1 in 7 Americans struggles with hunger and the world wonders how to address the challenge of feeding 9 billion people by 2050. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's programme "Hugh's War on Waste", episode 3 "The Battle Continues", as aired on BBC One on 28 July 2016. In this episode, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall continues on his mission to try to change Britain's wasteful ways. He takes on Amazon, for all their packaging, and the coffee shop giants Starbucks, Costa, and Caffe Nero, for their non-recyclable take-away coffee cups. The episode is presented by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, and was directed by Callum Webster and co-produced by Will Anderson and Callum Webster for KEO Films. The video is copyrighted by the BBC and is presented to YouTube audience for educational purposes under the US fair use doctrine.
A heart-stopping new documentary, A RIVER OF WASTE exposes a huge health and environmental scandal in our modern industrial system of meat and poultry production. Some scientists have gone so far as to call the condemned current factory farm practices as "mini Chernobyls." In the U.S. and elsewhere, the meat and poultry industry is dominated by dangerous uses of arsenic, antibiotics, growth hormones and by the dumping of massive amounts of sewage in fragile waterways and environments. The film documents the vast catastrophic impact on the environment and public health as well as focuses on the individual lives damaged and destroyed.
Waste management is the "generation, prevention, characterization, monitoring, treatment, handling, reuse and residual disposition of solid wastes". There are various types of solid waste including municipal (residential, institutional, commercial), agricultural, and special (health care, household hazardous wastes, sewage sludge). The term usually relates to materials produced by human activity, and the process is generally undertaken to reduce their effect on health, the environment or aesthetics. There is a wide array of issues relating to waste management and those areas include: Generation of waste, Waste minimization, Recycling and reuse, Storage, collection, transport, and transfer, Treatment, Landfill disposal, Environmental considerations, Financial and marketing aspects, Policy...
I see these people everyday. These zombie like lab rats just wasting away. And what I see it's not for me. Your really not living you're barely existing. I'm trying hard to think for myself. And I won't waste away. I'm living for today. Your rules were meant to break. And I won't waste away. Your really not living you're barely existing. And luxury is what you make it. It's what you enjoy and what you take for granted. I can't agree with how we're acting. There's too much going on and there's not enough reaction. But I've been there myself I've been there before. You can't close your eyes its not gonna go away. The world won't stop turning without you. You're rules were meant to break. Your really not living your barely existing. I won't waste away.
