As much as they must hate the popularity of the iPhone, Samsung and LG both probably love Apple’s smartphone. At least, the non-mobile divisions that are looking to win over more iPhone supply orders from Apple.

After releasing a tantalizing teaser video for Planet Earth 2 last week, BBC today finally gave us some information regarding when its award-winning documentary series is slated to return. Originally scheduled to air sometime in 2016, it appears that the debut of the highly anticipated series has been pushed back ever so slightly. Now comes word via BBC that Planet Earth 2 will hit our TV screens on January 28 on BBC America.
We’ve long known that Tesla knows how to manufacture incredibly fast cars with jaw-dropping acceleration, but the company really outdid itself when it introduced the P100D this past August. As if the Model S P90D weren’t fast enough already, Tesla’s new top of the line Model S can now blast from 0-60 MPH in just 2.5 seconds in Ludicrious Mode. What’s more, the car can go from 0-100 in 6.5 seconds and can complete a quarter-mile in 10.7 seconds flat.
Whatever the reason — either extremely low yields or incredibly high demand — the Jet Black version of Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus has been remarkably hard to find since the device first went on sale last month.
The iPhone 7 will continue to lay the groundwork for the major iPhone redesign expected for the near future, maybe as soon as next year. Removing the headphone jack and the physical home buttons are two of the steps Apple is taking towards the iPhone of the future, a device that may have a glass-only housing and a wraparound display. Google is about to launch two exciting Nexus devices, according to a variety of leaks. Codenamed Sailfish and Marlin, the two devices will be manufactured by HTC, and should offer the same design and high-end specs. A consistent number of reports have already “confirmed” the phones’ most important features. There have also been a few renders based on leaks, and a fresh one claims to be the most accurate of them all. More →
Many people have a strong negative opinion about Apple’s rumored decision to remove the headphone jack from the iPhone 7, but Apple isn’t the only company doing it. Lenovo-owned Motorola announced new Moto Z flagship devices earlier this year, and they do not feature a 3.5mm standard audio headphone jack. Yet there’s no petition urging Motorola not to do it, and the media is generally ignoring the change.

With eviscerating Tesla’s Autopilot software becoming something of a fad lately, Elon Musk took to Twitter today and shed some light on a recent Model X crash in Pennsylvania. If you recall, a Model X driving along the Pennsylvania Turnpike rammed into a guard rail last week, an incident which then resulted in the car crossing over a few lanes before crashing into a concrete median and rolling onto its roof. Notably, early reports indicated that the Model X had its Autopilot feature turned on at the time of the crash.
According to a report in British tabloid The Sun, all is not well at New Top Gear. Specifically, Matt LeBlanc has threatened to quit unless Chris Evans is fired. Considering that the BBC was meant to have killed presenter drama when it fired Jeremy Clarkson, this is not good.
According to The Sun, “sources on the crisis-hit programme say Matt has grown increasingly frustrated with his co-star’s rudeness and frosty attitude towards the team.” LeBlanc is signed for two seasons, so the BBC is apparently being pushed into choosing between the two main presenters.
Apple stores are notorious targets for thieves, and as a result, they’re heavily secured by many large men. But as it turns out, all you need to rob an Apple Store is a blue t-shirt and some serious confidence.
According to an NYPD report spotted by DNAInfo, two thieves dressed as Apple Store employees made off with 19 iPhones from Apple’s SoHo store on June 1st. Police are “still investigating the incident.”
