Iguazu Falls, Iguazú Falls, Iguassu Falls, or Iguaçu Falls (Spanish: Cataratas del Iguazú [kataˈɾatas ðel iɣwaˈsu]; Guarani: Chororo Yguasu [ɕoɾoɾo ɨɣʷasu]; Portuguese: Cataratas do Iguaçu [kataˈɾatɐʒ du iɡwaˈsu]) are waterfalls of the Iguazu River on the border of the Argentine province of Misiones and the Brazilian state of Paraná. The falls divide the river into the upper and lower Iguazu. The Iguazu River rises near the city of Curitiba. For most of its course, the river flows through Brazil, however, most of the falls are on the Argentine side. Below its confluence with the San Antonio River, the Iguazu River forms the boundary between Argentina and Brazil.
The name "Iguazu" comes from the Guarani or Tupi words "y" [ɨ], meaning "water", and "ûasú "[waˈsu], meaning "big". Legend has it that a deity planned to marry a beautiful woman named Naipí, who fled with her mortal lover Tarobá in a canoe. In a rage, the deity sliced the river, creating the waterfalls and condemning the lovers to an eternal fall. The first European to record the existence of the falls was the Spanish conquistador Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca in 1541.

These “Great Waters,” as named by the indigenous Guarani people, are made up of 275 waterfalls that span nearly 2 miles. Sorry, Niagara! Any Iguazu Falls tour will provide you with a sense of nature’s power and wonder. You can follow a boardwalk trail and take in the majestic, roaring falls from a safe vantage point…or, if you feel daring, a platform above the falls. Look down, but hang on to the railing—that’s a lot of water pouring beneath you. Don’t mind getting wet? Take a speedboat safari beneath the falls and enjoy the spray. Prefer to stay dry? A helicopter ride over the falls might be for you. From up high, the falls form a t...

When I first discovered Iguaçu Falls while planning the Brazil trip for the 2014 World Cup, it was the most impressive natural wonder I had ever seen. I knew a camera would never be able to fully capture an experience of this scale. Even in a helicopter, I would not be able to get close enough. I pondered for days on how I would be able to capture the falls and do it justice. After researching DJI's drones, I was so impressed with how advanced the flight technology was and knew that this was the solution. I was in awe at the first sight of the falls. Then I realized I was only looking at a small portion of it; there was a 1 mile hike to get to the other end. Every lookout along the way was gorgeous. Capturing this waterfall was the biggest driving factor for me buying a drone. I r...
Shot here in HD, Iguazu is the largest collection of cataracts in the world. There are 275 individual falls that run together to form this panorama. The heligimbal camera system's ability to twist and pan as it flies over the falls captures the magnitude of Iguazu and gives a new perspective to the familiar aerial flyover.

Modern time wonder Itaipu-Iguazu in South America. The thirteen hundred kilometre Rio Iguazu flows into the Rio Parana, the third largest major river of South America where, on the border between Brazil and Paraguay, one of the largest hydroelectric power plants on earth was built, the Itaipu Dam. Tall tubes lead the dam’s water to the turbines and it has been calculated that around forty times the entire water mass of the awesome Iguazu Waterfalls passes through. Each year eighteen generators produce around seventy five billion kilowatt-hours of electricity mainly to supply Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais in Brazil. A work force of up to thirty thousand took part in the creation of this gigantic project and it is thought that the amount of concrete that was used in its construction was enough...
