A major iPad refresh is incoming, if the latest rumors are to be believed. On Monday morning, Japanese Apple blog Mac Otakara published a report claiming that Apple would launch three new iPad Pro models in spring 2017, including a 9.7-inch model.
Samsung has a massive PR problem on its hands thanks to its exploding gadgets. Aside from the Galaxy Note 7, which had to be recalled weeks after launch after many batteries went up in flames, various other Samsung Android devices have been catching fire, including Galaxy S7 edge models, the Galaxy Grand and the older Galaxy Note 2. Even Samsung washing machines have had a terrible accidents recently. Now, a report says that a Samsung tablet exploded on a plane, which then had to be diverted from its destination as a result.
While all these incidents are terrible, it’s worth pointing out that they’re not related. The same problem isn’t affecting all these gadgets just because they’re made by Samsung. The Galaxy Note 7 is the only product that shipped with a massive flaw that turned each device into a potential fire hazard. All the other explosions appear to be isolated incidents. More →
Apple managed to pack its two-hour event on Wednesday full of exciting announcements, but the company still wasn’t able to fit everything into the keynote address. That’s why we’re just now learning that the iPad lineup received a minor refresh of its own, increasing the storage options to line up with those of the iPhone 7.
Google is preparing to launch quite a few new devices at some point in the coming weeks, including a couple of Nexus-like smartphones made by HTC that will have Pixel branding, an exciting first-gen Daydream VR headset, and a new 4K Chromecast according to a recent report.
