Donald Trump is nothing if not controversial. During the course of his unlikely and bizarrely successful run for President during this election cycle, Trump has eviscerated anyone and anything that dared stand in his way, or even lightly criticize him. Comically, The New York Times earlier this week published a complete list of the “218 people, places and things Donald Trump gas insulted on Twitter.” Needless to say, Trump is an equal opportunity offender quick to insult people and things as varied as Super Bowl 50 and T-Mobile’s service.
Donald Trump likes to give Hillary Clinton a hard time about her email blunders — and with good cause — but a recent tweet from security researcher Kevin Beaumont reveals that Trump’s corporate website is anything but a beacon of security.
Specifically, Beaumont notes that Trump’s website relies on a woefully outdated and un-patched version of Windows Server 2003 that, funny enough, isn’t even officially supported by Microsoft anymore.
Later tonight, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will square off once again when the third and final presidential debate kicks off at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. If the first two debates are any indication, tonight’s event will be long on personal attacks and short on substance.
While the debates thus far have straddled the bizarre line of being both entertaining and embarrassing, the end result is that neither debate has presented either candidate with a real opportunity to address important issues in great detail. One of the more common ways that purveyors of malware are able to trick unsuspecting users into downloading malicious software is to prey upon the public’s insatiable appetite for celebrity news, photos and gossip.
As a result, some celebrity-oriented search queries tend to be associated with a greater likelihood of downloading malware than others. As Intel notes, malicious actors are quick to put up websites “loaded with malware that can steal passwords and personal information,” especially in the days preceding new movie and music releases and in the days following a major celebrity breakup a’la the recent divorce news involving Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Chris Brown is in a standoff with LA police after allegedly pulling a gun on a woman during an argument. The cops have surrounded Brown’s home, the rapper told them they’d need a search warrant to come inside, and then he started posting videos on Instagram about the whole affair.
According to the LA Times, officers responded to a call for help from a woman at about 3AM. She claimed that Brown “pointed a gun at her during a violent rage before she ran outside to call police.” Officers attempted to enter the premises, but Brown told them to go get a search warrant, which they are apparently doing.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg gave Pope Francis a model drone during a meeting at the Vatican Monday.
Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan met Pope Francis in the Santa Marta residence, the guest house in Vatican City where the pope lives.
Not everything is going according to plan in Brazil with the Olympics, and the hosts in Rio can’t be happy about it. And water going green in the official pools is a minor problem compared to the alleged robbery of four US swimmers a few days ago. Brazilian police have had problems finding any evidence the robbery happened and found certain discrepancies while investigating the matter. Authorities have gone so far as to prevent three of the four athletes that were allegedly robbed from exiting the country. More →
Later this month, Britney Spears will release her first new studio album in three years. Titled “Glory,” the album will feature 17 brand new tracks, 15 of which remain a complete mystery for the time being. Tracks 2 and 3, respectively titled “Make Me” and “Private Show,” have already been released. “Make Me” is the first single from the new album and “Private Show” has been made available as a bonus for people who preorder “Glory” — preorders went live early Thursday morning, and there’s only one place you’ll be able to purchase or stream Spears’ new record when it’s released at the end of this month. The world is still coming to grips with the loss of one of the most talented musicians we have ever known. Prince’s untimely passing at the young age of 57 rocked the music industry and fans last Thursday morning, and we’ve all spent plenty of time since then relive our favorite music. Prince was, in a phrase, one of a kind. Rarely does such an eccentric and at times egotistical star actually posses the talent to back up his or her persona, but Prince was a rarity if nothing else. He was one of the most outlandish personalities of his time, and he did have the talent to back it up. He had so much talent that practically all of the greats in the industry adored and respected him despite his eccentricities. Eric Clapton was once asked in an interview what it felt like to be the best guitarist in the world, and his answer was perfect: “I don’t know. Ask Prince.”
