Ideas in Action with Jim Glassman

Ideas in Action with Jim Glassman is a new half-hour weekly series on ideas and their consequences.

Each edition of the new series, hosted by veteran journalist, scholar and diplomat Jim Glassman, will present a discussion of trends, conditions, and ideas at the heart of the important issues of the day. Viewers engage with a diverse group of economists, historians, anthropologists, political scientists, demographers, and social philosophers, as well as authorities from many other disciplines. Andrew Walworth is Executive Producer.

Ideas in Action is a coproduction of Grace Creek Media and The George W. Bush Institute and is distributed to PBS member stations nationwide by Executive Program Services.

Journalist, economic analyst, entrepreneur, speaker, financial columnist and book author, and diplomat, Jim Glassman is executive director of the George W. Bush Institute.

From 2008 to January 2009 he served as Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, leading the government-wide international strategic communications effort. Before joining the State Department, he was chairman of U.S. Broadcasting Board of Governors, which directs taxpayer-funded international broadcasting, including Voice of America, Radio Free Europe, and Alhurra TV.

He was moderator and host of the weekly television programs Capital Gang Sunday on CNN, MoneyPolitics on WJLA in Washington, D.C., and TechnoPolitics on PBS.

He was a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute from 1996 to 2008. Ambassador Glassman has been a columnist for the Washington Post, Reader's Digest, and the International Herald Tribune. He currently writes a monthly column for Kiplinger's Personal Finance.

He was formerly president of the Atlantic Monthly magazine, publisher of the New Republic magazine, executive vice president of U.S.News & World Report, and editor and co-owner of Roll Call, the congressional newspaper.

Andrew Walworth

Executive Producer

Andrew Walworth is President and Founder of Grace Creek Media, an independent television production and distribution company headquartered in Annapolis, MD and president of The New River Education Fund.

From 1993 to 2009, he was executive producer of the PBS public affairs series Think Tank with Ben Wattenberg. His other recent public television series include Moneywise with Kelvin Boston, Closer To Truth, Wine, Food & Friends with Karen MacNeil, and Follow The Money.

Walworth's PBS documentaries and specials include Who's Afraid to Be a Millionaire? (2006), Heaven on Earth: The Rise & Fall of Socialism (2005), Financial Insecurity (2004), Traveling Smart with Rudy Maxa (2002), The Big Band Sound of WWII (2001), The First Measured Century (2000), Yogi Berra: Déjà Vu All Over Again (1999), and The Stockholder Society (1999).

Recent cable credits include Hurricane Rescues and Hurricane Reunions for Animal Planet, the one-hour documentary Church & State: Religion in America hosted by Brit Hume for the Fox News Channel, and FDR: A Presidency Revealed for the History Channel.
