Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. (commonly known as Warner Bros., Warners, or simply WB) is an American entertainment company that produces film, television and music entertainment. As one of the major film studios, it is a division of Time Warner, with its headquarters in Burbank, California. Warner Bros. has several subsidiary companies, including Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Warner Bros. Television, Warner Bros. Animation, Warner Home Video, New Line Cinema, Castle Rock Entertainment, and DC Entertainment. Warner Bros. owns half of The CW Television Network.

History

Founding

The company's name originates from the four founding Warner brothers (born Wonskolaser or Wonsal before Anglicization):Harry (born Hirsz), Albert (born Aaron), Sam (born Szmul), and Jack (Itzhak, or to some sources, Jacob). They emigrated as small children with their parents to Canada from Krasnosielc which was located in the part of Congress Poland that had been subjugated to the Russian Empire following the eighteenth-century Partitions of Poland near present-day Ostrołęka.

Gal Gadot

Gal Gadot (/ˈɡɑːl ɡɑːdɒt, -ɔːt/; Hebrew: גל גדות‎; born 30 April 1985) is an Israeli actress and fashion model. Gadot is known for her role as Gisele in The Fast and the Furious film series. On 4 December 2013, Warner Bros. revealed that Gadot was cast in the role of Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe, starting with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Early life

Gadot was born and raised in Rosh HaAyin, Israel. In Hebrew, her first name means "wave" and her surname means "riverbanks" or "shores". Her parents were born in Israel, and her ancestors were Jewish immigrants from Europe (she has described her family background as "1/4 Polish, 1/4 Austrian, 1/4 German, and 1/4 Czech"). Gadot has stated that she was brought up in a "very Jewish, Israeli family environment" and served for two years as an enlisted soldier in the Israel Defense Forces.

Since 2008, Gadot has been a model for Castro (whose fashion shows she also hosts). She has also led international campaigns for Captain Morgan rum, and Vine Vera skincare ranges, and advertised Jaguar Cars. She has featured as the covergirl on Cosmopolitan, Bride Magazine, FHM. In 2013, her annual modelling salary was estimated to be in the millions of shekels, ahead of Israeli models Esti Ginzburg, Liraz Dror and Shlomit Malka (who campaigns for Ralph Lauren), although significantly behind Bar Refaeli.

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character is a warrior princess of the Amazons (which are based on the Amazons of Greek mythology) and is known in her homeland as Princess Diana of Themyscira. When outside her homeland, she is sometimes known by the secret identity Diana Prince. She is gifted with a wide range of superhuman powers and superior combat and battle skills. She possesses an arsenal of weapons, including the Lasso of Truth, a pair of indestructible bracelets, a tiara which serves as a projectile, and (in older stories) a range of devices based on Amazon technology.

Wonder Woman was created by the American psychologist and writer William Moulton Marston. The character first appeared in All Star Comics #8 in December 1941 and first cover-dated on Sensation Comics #1, January 1942. The Wonder Woman title has been published by DC Comics almost continuously except for a brief hiatus in 1986. Her depiction as a heroine fighting for justice, love, peace, and gender equality has led to Wonder Woman being widely considered a feminist icon. Created during World War II, the character was initially depicted fighting Axis military forces as well as an assortment of colorful supervillains, although over time her stories came to place greater emphasis on characters, deities, and monsters from Greek mythology. In the decades since her debut, Wonder Woman has gained a formidable cast of enemies bent on eliminating the Amazon, including classic villains such as Ares, Cheetah, Circe, Doctor Psycho, and Giganta, along with more recent adversaries such as the First Born. Wonder Woman has also regularly appeared in comic books featuring the superhero teams Justice Society (from 1941) and Justice League (from 1960).

Robin Wright

Robin Gayle Wright (born April 8, 1966) is an American film and TV actress. She currently stars as Claire Underwood in House of Cards, for which she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Drama in 2014, making her the first actress to win a Golden Globe for an online-only web television series.

Wright first gained attention when starring in the NBC soap opera Santa Barbara as Kelly Capwell from 1984 to 1988. She made the transition to film, starring in the romantic comedy fantasy adventure film The Princess Bride in 1987. She then starred in the fantasy-comedy Toys (1992), the epic romantic comedy-drama Forrest Gump (1994), the romantic drama Message in a Bottle (1999), the superhero drama-thriller Unbreakable (2000), the historical drama The Conspirator (2010). She later starred in the biographical sports drama Moneyball (2011), and the mystery thriller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011).

From 1996 to 2010, she was married to actor Sean Penn, with whom she has two children. During this time, she was credited as Robin Wright Penn.

Patty Jenkins

Patricia Lea "Patty" Jenkins is an American film director and screenwriter. She is best known for directing Monster (2003).

Life and career

Jenkins, a native of California, grew up around the world and lived in 15 different countries before she was 6 and 4 different states before college. Patty has two sisters, Elaine Roth and Jessica Jenkins Murphy. Jessica worked with Patty on Monster. She attended the AFI Conservatory. She graduated from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in 1993. The most famous film she has directed to date is Monster, a docudrama about Aileen Wuornos. On July 14, 2011, she received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for the pilot of The Killing. She received two nominations for the 2012 DGA Awards for Outstanding Directorial Achievement, one for "Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series" for The Killing and "Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television/Mini-Series" for Five. On January 28, 2012, she won the DGA award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement for a Dramatic Series for the pilot of The Killing.
