RURAL DRIVING SKILLS ARE NOT TESTED IN THE STANDARD UK DRIVING TEST EVEN THOUGH THE SPEEDS AND RISKS ARE GENERALLY HIGHER THAN THOSE IN URBAN AREAS. THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT STATISTICS SHOW THAT RURAL FATALITIES ARE 42% HIGHER THAN IN URBAN AREAS AND 91% HIGHER THAN MOTORWAYS. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE.

During our 'Pass Wide & Slow' road safety campaign designed to make the roads safer for horse riders, we discovered that the standard UK driving test does not include any examination of the driving students' ability to drive on rural roads.
Rural driving testing is an optional add-on within the optional 'Pass Plus' modules. There is no requirement for any driver to take those additional modules.
The government has stated that motorway driving skills will be included in the standard test even though motorway fatalities are 91% lower than rural fatalities. There is a much stronger case for rural driving skills to be included in the standard test based on the fatality numbers alone.
New drivers are allowed out onto rural roads with no experience of the risks such as blind bends, 60mph speed limits on very narrow country roads, animals, agricultural machinery and many vulnerable road users such as horse riders. This helps to explain why fatalities on rural roads from 2007-2014 were 33% higher than those on motorways and urban roads COMBINED.
The government needs to seriously consider filling this very large gap in driver knowledge and competence by including rural driving skills in the standard test as a priority. The current plans to include motorway driving testing do not go far enough. The statistics from the Department of Transport are conclusive evidence of that.

The LSPD First Response Modification (LSPDFR) is a police simulation modification (mod) for the PC version of Grand
Theft Auto V which transforms the game into a law enforcement simulation where you can conduct traffic stops, engage
in high speed pursuits, respond to callouts and enforce the law as you see fit.
The following are required to run the LCPDFR Modification:
• A genuine, working Microsoft Windows (PC) platform copy of Grand Theft Auto V.
• The RAGE Plugin Hook for GTA V, and its dependencies (all of which are included).
• Version 4.5 of Microsoft’s .Net Framework
LSPDFR heavily modifies the game far beyond its original purpose or scope. As such, it can conflict with the game
and cause occasional failures and errors. Such errors will not have any lasting effect on the modification or the game,
however they may result in crashes, freezes or the current session becoming unplayable. Note that LSPDFR does
not currently support any form of multiplayer gameplay.
The first public release of LSPDFR lays down a basic framework upon which the modification will be developed. Still,
it contains a number of interesting features - many of which will be easily recognisable by anyone who played its sister
modification, LCPDFR for GTA IV.
