The ABC TV crew has upped the ante, reports Garrett Naumann of Cammeray. "While we are not rewarded with weather presenters' bum-shots like commercial TV, we now have an officious-looking producer (with clipboard) crossing Graham Creed's path towards the news desk. Alas, we are not privy to the team-building conversation that follows. Any C8 suggestions?"

"Many years ago as children, we liked to lick the bowl, beaters, spoon and spatula after mum had made a cake. To my surprise the cake packets now have a warning. 'Do not eat cake mix as it contains raw eggs'." From Beverley Horne of Parramatta

"Some years ago, while holidaying on Bribie Island, my husband and I saw Moulin Rouge at the local cinema," says Agnes Herlihy of Killara. "As our daughter Juli had worked on costumes for the movie, we stayed alone in the cinema as the credits [C8] rolled. Before her name came up, the operator turned it off, not seeing us there. We had to wait for the DVD to proudly read her name."

"I'm probably in a minority, but my interest in film credits is not sudden," says Ross Chambers, Springwood. "I often see credits for film folk who may have been subordinate on movies I have worked on in the past moving up (or down) the ladder and find that interesting. Credits are a potpourri of legals, favours and obligations. Internet Movie Database lists credits comprehensively, but certainly not always accurately. I have seen my "name in small print" rather more often than in Column 8. So far ..."

Ben Fisher of Strathfield writes: "I agree with Denis Corke's judgement of world's worst haircuts [C8]. But for some time I have opined that the trio of Kim Jong-un, Donald Trump and Bronwyn Bishop owned the world's worst."

"Victoria had an Erickson Skycrane [C8], which saved nearly 300 homes near Bankstown and the lives of 14 firemen in Burragorang Valley in the 2001-02 bushfire season. It came from the US National Guard in Memphis, where the King lived, hence it's nickname, Elvis. It has since been retired from Australian duty, but like the King, it still lives." Michael Sinclair, Melbourne.
