Frankston’s Day of the Dead event set to have long life
A MEXICAN Day of the Dead event in Frankston will have a long life if organiser Yvens de Camargo has his way.
Mr de Camargo said foul weather didn’t deter crowds from attending Saturday’s event — in which participants traditionally gather to pray for and venerate friends and family who have died — at the Frankston Library forecourt.
“The crowds did fluctuate due to the volatile weather. We will definitely do it again next year,” he said.
Mr de Camargo said he hoped the annual event would continue to grow and ultimately be moved to a bigger venue.
“The feedback we got from everyone attending was excellent.”
The local event featured Mexican and contemporary music as well as performers including the Qasima Collective accompanied by Temul Taal musicians.
Tasty treats on offer included a Patagonian barbecue.
