Wallabies second-rower Adam Coleman in serious doubt for France game
By Tom Decent
Edinburgh: Wallabies second-rower Adam Coleman will almost certainly miss Australia's next match against France because of a knee injury.
Coleman left the field five minutes into Australia's 23-22 win over Scotland at Murrayfield and will undergo scans to get a better understanding of how severe his injury is.
Wallabies officials say he is highly unlikely to feature in the next game against France on Saturday.
There was a chance Coleman would have been rested anyway for the France fixture, something Cheika was understood to have been considering in order to give a number of other players more game time.
"[It] looks like he's strained a medial ligament in his knee," said Cheika of Coleman. "He'll go and get some pictures now and then we'll see what that presents for him [and] whether he can stay on or whether he'll have to go home."
His replacement on Saturday, Rob Simmons, would be the obvious choice to take a second-row starting spot, possibly alongside Rory Arnold, providing Cheika doesn't rest someone like Arnold who has played four consecutive Tests.
"I thought Simmo did well when he came on and he played pretty much the full game there which is always hard when you come on really early in the game," said Wallabies captain Stephen Moore. "Unfortunately Adam went off so that's a big effort."
