The Sport of Cockfighting, called Sabong.. What an interesting sport, to say the least. It's embedded into Filipino culture. A billion dollar industry, it's completely legal and trainers pay taxes on their bets... It's kinda like a casino. They even have a website called cockfightlive.com where you live stream and bet on cockfights in the Philippines.
The gov't actually builds these derby rings (officially known as 'Cocktagons' .. jp lol} to raise tax revenue, because even it if were illegal people would still be holding backyard matches every week (video of that coming soon).
I find most of the entertainment to be in the hilarious people, the expressions on their faces and the crazy betting fiasco, not necessarily the fighting part. It's a bit more brutal than chess (they tie 4" blades to the fighting roosters feet), but at least we're not living in the Gladiator ages.... Heheh.. Enjoy and leave a comment! Derby (
i/ˈdɑːrbi/ DAR-bi, locally /ˈdɑːrbɛ/ DAR-beh) is a city and unitary authority area in the East Midlands region of England. It lies on the banks of the River Derwent in the south of the county of Derbyshire, of which it is the county town. In the 2011 census, the city had a population of 248,700 and 1,543,000 in the wider metro area.
As home to Lombe's Mill, an early British factory, Derby is considered a birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. With the arrival of the railways in the 19th century, and because of its strategic central location, the city grew to become a centre of the British rail industry.
Today, Derby is an internationally renowned centre for advanced transport manufacturing, home to the world’s second largest aero-engine manufacturer, Rolls-Royce, and Derby Litchurch Lane Works—the UK's only remaining train manufacturer. The Toyota Manufacturing UK's automobile headquarters is south west of the city at Burnaston.
History
Origins
The Roman camp of 'Derventio' was probably at Little Chester/Chester Green (grid reference SK353375), the site of the old Roman fort. Later the town was one of the 'Five Boroughs' (fortified towns) of the Danelaw, until it was captured by Lady Aethelflaed of Mercia in July 917, subsequent to which the town was annexed into the Kingdom of Mercia.

North London derby
The North London derby is the name of the association football local derby between two north London based teams – Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Both Arsenal and Tottenham fans have recognised each other as one of their biggest rivals and the derby is one of the fiercest in English football.
Arsenal play their home games at the Emirates Stadium, while Tottenham Hotspur play their home games at White Hart Lane.
History
The first meeting between the two teams was a friendly on 19 November 1887, when Arsenal were located in Plumstead (then part of Kent but now in Greater London), and known as Royal Arsenal. The match was abandoned 15 minutes before it was due to end "owing to darkness" with Spurs leading 2–1. The first League match between the clubs was in the First Division, on 4 December 1909; Arsenal won 1–0.
However, a proper rivalry between the two teams did not begin until 1913, when Arsenal moved from the Manor Ground, Plumstead to Arsenal Stadium, Highbury, just four miles from Tottenham's White Hart Lane; by doing so, they became Tottenham's nearest neighbours and thus began a natural local rivalry. The two teams first faced each other as "north London" in a War Relief Fund friendly on 22 August 1914 at White Hart Lane. Although Arsenal were in the Second Division and Tottenham in the First, Arsenal won 5–1. They would go on to meet regularly during World War I in the London Combination, the regional wartime competition of the time.

North London
North London is the northern part of London, England. It is an imprecise description and the area it covers is defined differently for a range of purposes. Common to these definitions is that it includes districts located north of the River Thames and is used in comparison with south London. However, it is also often used in comparisons with central London, east London and west London.
Boundary Commission
The River Thames divides Greater London into two parts. The northern part includes most of the historic central areas including the City, the East End and the West End; and the majority of the London Underground network.
This area is made up of the City of London and the London boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Barnet, Brent, Camden, Ealing, Enfield, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Haringey, Harrow, Havering, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, and Westminster. This definition is used by the Boundary Commission for England. The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames includes sections on both sides of the River Thames. The boundary commission class the entire district as part of South London.

Antelope Valley
Antelope Valley is located in northern Los Angeles County, California and the southeast portion of Kern County, California, and constitutes the western tip of the Mojave Desert. It is situated between the Tehachapi and the San Gabriel Mountains. The valley was named for the pronghorns that roamed there until being eliminated by bad weather in the 1880s and hunters. The principal cities in the Antelope Valley are Palmdale and Lancaster.
Geography
The Antelope Valley comprises the western tip of the Mojave Desert, opening up to the Victor Valley and the Great Basin to the east. Lying north of the San Gabriel Mountains and southeast of the Tehachapis, this desert ecosystem spans approximately 2,200 square miles (5,698 km2). Precipitation in the surrounding mountain ranges contributes to groundwater recharge.
Flora and fauna
The Antelope Valley is home to a wide range of plants and animals. This includes hundreds of plants such as the California Juniper, Joshua tree, California Scrub Oak, Creosote, and wildflowers, notably the California poppy. Winter brings much-needed rain which slowly penetrates the area's dry ground, bringing up native grasses and wildflowers. Poppy season depends completely on the precipitation, but a good bloom can be killed off by the unusual weather in the late winter and early spring months.

A billion dollar industry, it's completely legal and trainers pay taxes on their bets... It's kinda like a casino. They even have a website called cockfightlive.com where you live stream and bet on cockfights in the Philippines.
The gov't actually builds these derby rings (officially known as 'Cocktagons' .. jp lol} to raise tax revenue, because even it if were illegal people would still be holding backyard matches every week (video of that coming soon).
I find most of the entertainment to be in the hilarious people, the expressions on their faces and the crazy betting fiasco, not necessarily the fighting part. It's a bit more brutal than chess (they tie 4" blades to the fighting roosters feet), but at least we're not living in the Gladiator ages.... Heheh.. Enjoy and leave a comment! The Mongol Derby | A Brief Guide
http://www.mongolderby.com - the world's longest and toughest horse race is a recreation of Genghis Khan's legendary and ancient postal system that spanned an empire. Racing on semi-wild Mongolian horses, riders take on 1000 kilometres of Mongolian wilderness, via a network of 25 horse stations put in place especially for the race and manned by nomadic families and herdsman. Riders changes horses every 40 kilometres, meaning almost 1000 horses are involved in the race. In 2012 the race starts on 10th August. Riders take between 7 and 10 days to cross the finish line. Napier Art Deco

Napier, a small city in Hawke's Bay on the North Island's east coast, is famous for its eye-catching art deco architecture. Most of Napier was leveled by an earthquake in 1931. The rebuilding period coincided with the short-lived Art Deco era and as a result Napier's architecture is strikingly different from any other city in the world. Thousands of tourist visit Napier every February for the Art Deco Weekend, an event dedicated to the style, vintage cars, picnics and the soapbox derby.
Sky Tower

The Sky Tower is an observation and telecommunications tower located in New Zealand's largest city. At a height of 328 meters (1,076 ft) it is the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere and the Sky Tower has become an iconic structure in Auckland's skyline. The tower offers views of up to 80 km away and fine dining in the Orbit revolving restaurant.
Abel Tasman National Park

Located on the northern tip of the country's South Island, this vast national park is a hiker's dream. Closed to vehicles, one must enter by boat, foot or small plane, but the trip is well worth it. While traversing the mountainous terrain, blue penguins, wekas, oyster catchers, wood pigeons and other rare birds can all be seen.

This Derby hotel is located in Derby's Cathedral Quarter, it has 213 rooms and opened in July 2009.
If you are going to see a band play at the Flower Pot pub then this has to be the best hotel to stop in as its just across the road from the venue.
Its also handy for anything in the City as when you come out of the Hotel entrance you are looking at the top of Queen Street where Derby Cathedral is located. If you then walk down Iron Gate you reach Derby's Market Place where you will find the Assembly Rooms and The Quad. Derby Westfield shopping centre is just a few minutes walk away up St Peters Street.
The nearest car park to the Jurys Inn Derby Hotel is Chapel street which as you can see in my video is just a 2 minute walk away.
One unique point that this hotel has is a view of the Peregrine Falcon nest on Derby Cathedral. You can see a live streaming video of this next on my Derby webcam page :

I can't personally recommend any specific hotels in Derby as I have never stopped in a hotel in Derby because I live here :)
What I would advice is that you firstly have a good look around their website to see what the hotel has to offer and secondly use a Hotel review website such as TripAdvisor. Trip Advisor was established in 2000, it's a website that allows customers to rate and review hotels they stop in, even allowing them to post photographs they have taken at the hotel.
When using hotel review sites such as Trip Advisor, you have to remember that everyone's idea of what constitutes a "good hotel" is different.
Some people expect all the extra features that luxury hotels have to offer such as spas and concierge car parking. Then there are other people that just expect somewhere cheap and comfortable, this is why you need to read all the reviews on TripAdvisor for the hotel you want to stop in rather than just one or two people that may not like the hotel. Remember not everyone's the same as you!
You can sometimes save money by booking through other websites such as trivago and laterooms.com but the best way to save is to book your room in advance as much as possible.

The pilot of a charter plane that crashed in Colombia on Monday had been warned before taking off from an airport in Bolivia that he might not have enough fuel, a reports say.
