This application uses data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics publication Consumer Price Index (Cat. no. 6401.0) for Quarterly indexes and Consumer Price Index: Concepts, Sources and Methods (Cat. no. 6461.0) for Annual indexes to demonstrate the change in purchasing power of an amount of money between two chosen dates. The difference shown between the user's input value and what the CPI Inflation Calculator outputs demonstrates the effect of inflation over time.
