Safari Park is a place where wildlife are provided with a favourable natural environment to live. Safari Parks are built to facilitate wildlife conservation, breeding, education, research and entertainment. Here visitors usually see wildlife from within a special protected vehicle. Each Safari Park is built with a large area of natural environment. Beside wildlife, rare and endangered plants are also conserved in Safari Parks. The first Safari Park of Bangladesh was established in Dulahazra of Chokoria upazila of Cox's bazar. Ecosystem of this Park has been formed with natural wetland and forest. Here Garjan (Rhizophora mucronata), Chaplaish (Artocarpus chaplasha), Dhaki jam (Syzygium grande) etc. have become safe home to endangered wildlife. This Safari Park is also a vital conservator of numerous species of plants. The country's second Safari Park, 'Bangabandhu Safari Park', has recently been established in the Sal (deciduous) Forest of Gazipur district. This Safari Park is only 40 km far from the capital city Dhaka. Bangabandhu Safari Park includes Core Safari Park, Safari Kingdom, Biodiversity Park, Bangabandhu Squire and Extensive Asian Safari Park. Besides acting as public attraction, our Safari Parks are also being used as centre for research on wildlife related issues. A number of Watchtowers are there to easily see the wildlife. These Parks also include Nature Interpretation Centre in order for the visitors to know about Forests and wildlife of the country. Here visitors get detail knowledge about various wildlife and plants through a unique system of effluent light and sound. For various Biological info and research a Nature History Museum has been instituted in the Safari Park. These Safari Parks take in various resident wildlife including Bengal Tiger, Bear, Crocodile, Elephant, Python, Gibbon, Langur etc. Various species of Jungle Cats are also there. Wildlife, here, roam freely in natural environment surrounded by large enclosure. Visitors get into the fenced area with vehicle to enjoy the sight of freely roaming wildlife. Large ambits are there for visitors to see the wildness of Tiger and Lion. Riding Jeep in the area is a sensational experience for the visitors. In the Safari Park, one can easily see endangered Gayal in a natural setting. Elephants live within a large enclosure in the middle of the Park. Country's four available species of Deer - Spotted Deer, Barking Deer, Sambar and Hog Deer are available in Safari Park. Various species of Birds are there in the aviary of Dulahazra and Bangabandhu Safari Park. Here Birds can be easily observed from the Bird Island. But Vulture, Hornbill, Macaw, Emu, Owl etc. birds have individual aviary. These Safari Parks contain water bodies for diversified wild Ducks. Various Butterflies are there in the Butterfly Park. Crocodile Park and Snake Park are also available in these Safari Parks. Special arrangement is there to conserve endangered Turtles. Beside resident wildlife, foreign wildlife like: Lion, Hippo, Wild Beast, Giraffe etc. can also be found in Safari Park. These foreign wildlife have mainly been brought to provide viewers with added entertainment and knowledge. Apt living environment has been built here for these wildlife. Our Safari Parks have successfully bred a number of species of wildlife. These Parks have a number of instances of successful breeding of Deer and Crocodile. Despite abolition of Peafowls from our nature, we hope to get them back through successful captive breeding. Special administration and care for wildlife is necessary to achieve the core objectives of Safari Park. With balanced diet and proper supply of drinking water, these wildlife can live a good life even in semi-natural environment. Visitors should also avoid activities that trouble wildlife. The country's Safari Parks can be a vital centre for wildlife research through conserving endangered wildlife. Besides, these Parks will be successful in terms of educating students and attracting visitors. Along with these, enhancement in service and facilities will increase the importance of Safari Parks.
