At this perilous moment, confidence trickster Syd Ross completes his sentence and is released from Waikeria Prison. He makes a phone call and finds himself in front of Prime Minister Fraser. Syd tells a tale of sabotage and assassination, of a Nazi plot to take over New Zealand. Fraser contacts Major Folkes, head of the Security Intelligence Bureau. Folkes seizes on Ross' story, gives Ross a new identity, a car, money and accommodation at The Grand in Rotorua. Ross is to gather evidence on the 'Nazi plot'. As he does so, Folkes puts together a secret dossier, embroidering Ross' lies and building a picture of a country in extreme danger. SPIES AND LIES is a ripping yarn about conspiracy, incompetence, and an extraordinary hoax that challenged the highest levels of New Zealand government.

Good evening, I’m Elizabeth and I live in Cornwall, I’m Cornish and I speak the Cornish language. I’m a Cornish speaker. So, I began to learn Cornish when I was... around about seven years old, I think. My mother was learning Cornish at evening classes and she came home and taught me and my brother to speak the language. Then my father learnt it too. And we all spoke the language together at home, when we were eating together and so on, ‘pass me the salt’ etc. And we went to lots of events together, like Cornish Language Weekends organised by the Cornish Language Fellowship. These events were for people who wanted to learn Cornish and I remember going there with my brother and playing with all the other children who were learning Cornish. There w...

A comedian has created a downloadable satnav voiceover that directs drivers and makes jokes - in a CORNISH accent. The new app created by funnyman Colin Leggo gives users a choice of four members of the fictional Trebilcock family. The four characters - Frank, his wife Pam, son Leonard and daughter Lucy - give instructions such as "at the end of this lovely road turn right" and "exit left my darling". Users can listen to one at a time or use the 'world-first' family mode setting, where the four argue with one another like real-life relatives bickering over directions. 'Travel with the Trebilcocks' was produced by Colin Leggo and pal Simon Truen, a cult Cornish twitter personality known as Jam First. Satnav users can download each voice onto their TomTom or Garmin device for #2.99, while th...
