Part of the revolutionary LD System of learning to drive from LDC. This video shows the key points you need to learn in preparation for the driving lesson on Getting Moving. The video is used in conjunction with the LDC driving skills workbook. These resources together with guidance from an expert LDC driving instructor provide one of the most effective and efficient ways to learn to drive and become a safe driver for life. This driving lesson includes the controls, cockpit drill, moving off and stopping.
If you want to see this approach in practice view the videos in the playlists entitled "Student centred learning" where Bob Morton supports Bobby-Jo as she learns to drive.
Too many driving instructors focus too much attention on telling their pupils what to do and what to think! This approach only fosters dependency, doubt and blind obedience, such that once the test is passed they do all the things they were told not to do. The LDC approach is designed to foster self-reliance, confidence and responsibility resulting in safer drivers who learn to drive far more quickly and thoroughly.
Unlike traditional instruction LDC heavily promotes student centred learning. This involves the student being encouraged to take more responsibility for their own development by using the LD System materials before and after each lesson and by using discovery learning with self determination and reflection rather than being told what to do by the instructor. In particular talk through instruction, prompted practice and long winded explanations are avoided, if at all possible - instead encouraging the student to work it out for themselves.

Jo feels ready to take a mock driving test. She has had 32 hours of driving lessons with no private practice. Jo has her UK driving test next week and wants to see how ready she is. If she doesn't pass this mock test then she'll probably have to cancel her driving test.
Watch this video to gain valuable driving test tips and see what a UK driving test is like. The driving test lasts about 35-40 minutes. You're not allowed any more than 15 driving faults (minors) and no serious or dangerous faults. At the start of the driving test you would have to sign your name on a declaration form, read a number plate and then you'd have to answer two vehicle safety questions (show me tell me questions). This video is not showing a real driving test. Your driving test should include an angled start, a hill start and maybe a controlled stop (emergency stop). This is a mock test and NOT a real driving test. Your examiner might mark more faults or less faults than are shown in this video.
Jo went on to pass her driving test the week after!
Jo's driving test was conducted at the West Wickham driving test centre and follows a West Wickham driving test route. It includes some independent driving, 40 mph roads and a reverse around a corner.

Driving most often refers to the controlled operation and movement of a motorized vehicle, such as a car, truck, or bus.
Etymology
The origin of the term driver, as recorded from the 15th century, refers to the occupation of driving working animals, especially pack horses or draft horses. The verb ' to drive ' in origin means "to force to move, to impel by physical force". It is first recorded of electric railway drivers in 1889 and of a motor-car driver in 1896. Early alternatives were motorneer,motor-man, motor-driver or motorist. French favors "conducteur" (the English equivalent, "conductor", being used —from the 1830s— not of the driver but of the person in charge of passengers and collecting fares), while German influenced areas adopted Fahrer (used of coach-drivers in the 18th century, but shortened about 1900 from the compound Kraftwagenfahrer), and the verbs führen, lenken, steuern —all with a meaning "steer, guide, navigate"— translating to conduire.

Ice cube
An ice cube is a small, roughly cube-shaped piece of ice (frozen water), conventionally used to cool beverages. Ice cubes are sometimes preferred over crushed ice because they melt more slowly; they are standard in mixed drinks that call for ice, in which case the drink is said to be "on the rocks."
Origin
American physician and humanitarian John Gorrie built a refrigerator in 1844 with the purpose of cooling air. His refrigerator produced ice which he hung from the ceiling in a basin. Gorrie can be considered the creator of ice cubes, but his aim was not to cool drinks: he used the ice to lower the ambient room temperature. During his time, a dominant idea was that bad air quality caused disease. Therefore, in order to help treat sickness, he pushed for the draining of swamps and the cooling of sickrooms.
Methods of production
Ice cubes are produced domestically by filling an ice cube tray with water and placing it in a freezer. Many freezers also come equipped with an icemaker, which produces ice cubes automatically and stores them in a bin from which they can be dispensed directly into a glass.

UK driving test with Jo http://www.driving-school-beckenham.co.uk/driving-test-with-jo.html Jo feels ready to take a mock driving test. She has had 32 hours of driving lessons with no private practice. Jo has her UK driving test next week and wants to see how ready she is. If she doesn't pass this mock test then she'll probably have to cancel her driving test. Watch this video to gain valuable driving test tips and see what a UK driving test is like. The driving test lasts about 35-40 minutes. You're not allowed any more than 15 driving faults (minors) and no serious or dangerous faults. At the start of the driving test you would have to sign your name on a declaration form, read a number plate and then you'd have to answer two vehicle safety questions (show me tell me questions). This video is not showing a real driving test. Your driving test should include an angled start, a hill start and maybe a controlled stop (emergency stop). This is a mock test and NOT a real driving test. Your examiner might mark more faults or less faults than are shown in this video. Jo went on to pass her driving test the week after! Jo's driving test was conducted at the West Wickham driving test centre and follows a West Wickham driving test route. It includes some independent driving, 40 mph roads and a reverse around a corner. This approach only fosters dependency, doubt and blind obedience, such that once the test is passed they do all the things they were told not to do. The LDC approach is designed to foster self-reliance, confidence and responsibility resulting in safer drivers who learn to drive far more quickly and thoroughly.
Unlike traditional instruction LDC heavily promotes student centred learning. This involves the student being encouraged to take more responsibility for their own development by using the LD System materials before and after each lesson and by using discovery learning with self determination and reflection rather than being told what to do by the instructor. In particular talk through instruction, prompted practice and long winded explanations are avoided, if at all possible - instead encouraging the student to work it out for themselves.

Jo feels ready to take a mock driving test. She has had 32 hours of driving lessons with no private practice. Jo has her UK driving test next week and wants to see how ready she is. If she doesn't pass this mock test then she'll probably have to cancel her driving test.
Watch this video to gain valuable driving test tips and see what a UK driving test is like. The driving test lasts about 35-40 minutes. You're not allowed any more than 15 driving faults (minors) and no serious or dangerous faults. At the start of the driving test you would have to sign your name on a declaration form, read a number plate and then you'd have to answer two vehicle safety questions (show me tell me questions). This video is not showing a real driving test. Your driving test should include an angled start, a hill start and maybe a controlled stop (emergency stop). This is a mock test and NOT a real driving test. Your examiner might mark more faults or less faults than are shown in this video.
Jo went on to pass her driving test the week after!
Jo's driving test was conducted at the West Wickham driving test centre and follows a West Wickham driving test route. It includes some independent driving, 40 mph roads and a reverse around a corner.
