The Burning è un film del 1981 diretto da Tony Maylam e sceneggiato da Peter Lawrence e Bob Weinstein. È basato su un soggetto originale di Maylam, Harvey Weinstein e Brad Grey. Il film è liberamente ispirato alla leggenda urbana dello stato di New York su Cropsey, una storia divenuta molto popolare nei campi estivi negli anni '60 e '70.
Realizzato in piena epoca dei film slasher nati sull'onda di successo di Halloween - La notte delle streghe (1978) e Venerdì 13 (1980), il film è stato il primo ad essere prodotto dalla Miramax Films. Il produttore hollywoodiano Harvey Weinstein, che in seguito diresse film con grandi compagnie come la The Weinstein Co., ha prodotto il film. Il film segna anche il debutto cinematografico di Jason Alexander, Fisher Stevens e di Holly Hunter. Il leggendario make-up artist Tom Savini, famoso per i suoi lavori in Zombi (1978), Maniac (1980), e l'originale Venerdì 13, ha creato gli effetti per The Burning.

Tony Maylam
Tony Maylam (1943) is an English-born filmmaker for cinema and television.
Biography
Trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, he began his career as an actor and then television presenter for ZDF Bermuda (The Tony Maylam Show) and the UK’s ITV (Sportsweek), before concentrating solely on filmmaking. Always interested in sport, he began his cinematic career in 1972 with the film Cup Glory, a feature length theatrical film with Richard Attenborough on the 100 years of the FA Cup. A number of films for television followed, which he wrote and directed, including Graham, on Graham Hill with Paul Newman (which was one of the highest rated documentaries shown on British television in the 1970s) and A Fast Drive in the Country with James Coburn. This led to White Rock, again featuring James Coburn, with a bestselling soundtrack by Rick Wakeman, which played in British cinemas for over six months and garnered wide international sales and recognition, including BAFTA.
Another Tony Maylam film which received an extensive cinema release in 1976 was Genesis in Concert, featuring Phil Collins, which, like White Rock, was shot in anamorphic Panavision. This led to Tony Maylam’s first fictional feature film, an adaption of the classic novel, The Riddle of the Sands, starring Simon MacCorkindale, Michael York and Jenny Agutter, which he wrote and directed.

The United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves was a pluricontinental monarchy formed by the elevation of the Portuguese colony named State of Brazil to the status of a kingdom and by the simultaneous union of that Kingdom of Brazil with the Kingdom of Portugal and the Kingdom of the Algarves, constituting a single state consisting of three kingdoms.
The United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves was formed in 1815, following the transfer of the Portuguese Court to Brazil during the Napoleonic invasions of Portugal, and it continued to exist for about one year after the return of the Court to Europe, being de facto dissolved in 1822, when Brazil proclaimed its independence. The dissolution of the United Kingdom was accepted by Portugal and formalized de jure in 1825, when Portugal recognized the independent Empire of Brazil.
During its period of existence the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves did not correspond to the whole of the Portuguese Empire: rather, the united kingdom was the transatlantic metropolis that controlled the Portuguese colonial empire, with its overseas possessions in Africa and Asia.

Split Second (1953 film)
Split Second is a 1953 American film noir thriller directed by Dick Powell about escaped convicts and their hostages holed up in a ghost town, unaware of the grave danger they are in. It featured Stephen McNally, Alexis Smith, Jan Sterling, and Keith Andes.
Plot
Sam Hurley (Stephen McNally) and Bart Moore (Paul Kelly) escape from prison, although Moore is seriously wounded in the breakout. They meet up with a confederate, a mute named "Dummy" (Frank de Kova), and hide out in a ghost town. Along the way, they pick up several hostages, Kay Garven (Alexis Smith) and her lover Arthur Ashton (Robert Paige), reporter Larry Fleming (Keith Andes), dancer "Dottie" Vale (Jan Sterling), and the town's sole resident, Asa Tremaine (Arthur Hunnicutt).
Larry tries to warn the gangsters that the government is going to conduct an atomic bomb test nearby the next day, but Sam, their leader, does not believe him. When Arthur causes trouble, Sam kills him without a qualm. Meanwhile, Sam discovers that Kay's husband is a doctor. He phones Neal Garven (Richard Egan) and threatens to kill his unfaithful wife unless he meets them. To Kay's surprise, Neal still loves her enough to show up. He successfully operates on Bart, but warns Sam that moving his friend too soon will kill him. When Sam finally realizes that Larry was telling the truth, he still waits as long as possible to give Bart time to recuperate.

The Burning è un film del 1981 diretto da Tony Maylam e sceneggiato da Peter Lawrence e Bob Weinstein. È basato su un soggetto originale di Maylam, Harvey Weinstein e Brad Grey. Il film è liberamente ispirato alla leggenda urbana dello stato di New York su Cropsey, una storia divenuta molto popolare nei campi estivi negli anni '60 e '70.
Realizzato in piena epoca dei film slasher nati sull'onda di successo di Halloween - La notte delle streghe (1978) e Venerdì 13 (1980), il film è stato il primo ad essere prodotto dalla Miramax Films. Il produttore hollywoodiano Harvey Weinstein, che in seguito diresse film con grandi compagnie come la The Weinstein Co., ha prodotto il film. Il film segna anche il debutto cinematografico di Jason Alexander, Fisher Stevens e di Holly Hunter. Il leggendario make-up artist Tom Savini, famoso per i suoi lavori in Zombi (1978), Maniac (1980), e l'originale Venerdì 13, ha creato gli effetti per The Burning.

The Burning è un film del 1981 diretto da Tony Maylam e sceneggiato da Peter Lawrence e Bob Weinstein. È basato su un soggetto originale di Maylam, Harvey Weinstein e Brad Grey. Il film è liberamente ispirato alla leggenda urbana dello stato di New York su Cropsey, una storia divenuta molto popolare nei campi estivi negli anni '60 e '70.
Realizzato in piena epoca dei film slasher nati sull'onda di successo di Halloween - La notte delle streghe (1978) e Venerdì 13 (1980), il film è stato il primo ad essere prodotto dalla Miramax Films. Il produttore hollywoodiano Harvey Weinstein, che in seguito diresse film con grandi compagnie come la The Weinstein Co., ha prodotto il film. Il film segna anche il debutto cinematografico di Jason Alexander, Fisher Stevens e di Holly Hunter. Il leggendario make-up artist Tom Savini, famoso per i suoi lavori in Zombi (1978), Maniac (1980), e l'originale Venerdì 13, ha creato gli effetti per The Burning.

The Burning è un film del 1981 diretto da Tony Maylam e sceneggiato da Peter Lawrence e Bob Weinstein. È basato su un soggetto originale di Maylam, Harvey Weinstein e Brad Grey. Il film è liberamente ispirato alla leggenda urbana dello stato di New York su Cropsey, una storia divenuta molto popolare nei campi estivi negli anni '60 e '70.
Realizzato in piena epoca dei film slasher nati sull'onda di successo di Halloween - La notte delle streghe (1978) e Venerdì 13 (1980), il film è stato il primo ad essere prodotto dalla Miramax Films. Il produttore hollywoodiano Harvey Weinstein, che in seguito diresse film con grandi compagnie come la The Weinstein Co., ha prodotto il film. Il film segna anche il debutto cinematografico di Jason Alexander, Fisher Stevens e di Holly Hunter. Il leggendario make-up artist Tom Savini, famoso per i suoi lavori in Zombi (1978), Maniac (1980), e l'originale Venerdì 13, ha creato gli effetti per The Burning.
