"Hitler's Henchmen" offers in-depth personal and political profiles of six men who became architects of the destruction of Europe. Portraits of the men who carried out Hitler's plans: ZDF's sequel about the men who consolidated Hitler's reign and turned his plans into action. They wove the complicities and plots without which Hitler could have never perpetrated the crime of the century. They helped to sway the judges and the bureaucrats, the armed forces and the police, the scientists and the industrialists, the students and their teachers to the regime's ways of thinking. What kind of people were they? What inspired them to serve a corrupt administration with such enthusiasm and devotion? How did their careers unfold and their fates end? The series answers these and other questions by examining six of Hitler's cohorts. The portraits of these aides-de-camp provide viewers with a revealing psychogram of "Hitler's willing executors." The films present for the first time newly discovered film clips and sound recordings from international archives. Hermann Wilhelm Göring (or Goering;[a] German: [ˈɡøːʁɪŋ] ( listen); 12 January 1893 – 15 October 1946) was a German politician, military leader, and leading member of the Nazi Party (NSDAP). A veteran of World War I as an ace fighter pilot, he was a recipient of the coveted Pour le Mérite, also known as the "Blue Max". He was the last commander of Jagdgeschwader 1, the fighter wing once led by Manfred von Richthofen, dubbed the "Red Baron".
A member of the NSDAP from its early days, Göring was wounded in 1923 during the failed coup known as the Beer Hall Putsch. He became addicted to morphine after being treated with the drug for his injuries. After helping Adolf Hitler take power in 1933, he became the second-most powerful man in Germany. He founded the Gestapo in 1933, and later gave command of it to Heinrich Himmler. Göring was appointed commander-in-chief of the Luftwaffe (air force) in 1935, a position he held until the final days of World War II. By 1940 he was at the peak of his power and influence; as minister in charge of the Four Year Plan, he was responsible for much of the functioning of the German economy in the build-up to World War II. Adolf Hitler promoted him to the rank of Reichsmarschall, a rank senior to all other Wehrmacht commanders, and in 1941 Hitler designated him as his successor and deputy in all his offices.
Göring's standing with Hitler was greatly reduced by 1942, when the Luftwaffe failed to fulfill its commitments and the German war effort was stumbling on both fronts. Göring largely withdrew from the military and political scene and focused on the acquisition of property and artwork, much of which was confiscated from Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Informed on 22 April 1945 that Hitler intended to commit suicide, Göring sent a telegram to Hitler requesting permission to assume control of the Reich. Considering it an act of treason, Hitler removed Göring from all his positions, expelled him from the party, and ordered his arrest. After World War II, Göring was convicted of war crimes and crimes against humanity at the Nuremberg trials. He was sentenced to death by hanging, but committed suicide by ingesting cyanide the night before the sentence was to be carried out.

(2006) Das Tribunal von Nürenberg - Görings letzte Schlacht (El Tribunal de Nürenberg - la última batalla de Göring) narra la historia del que fuera Reichsmarschall del Tercer Reich, Hermann Göring, y su duelo dialéctico con el Fiscal que dirigió la acusación en el Proceso de Nürnberg, el norteamericano Robert H. Jackson.
Para la elaboración del documental, su director Michael Kloft viajó por todo el mundo para entrevistar a testigos y conseguir grabaciones y documentos hasta ahora inéditos, además de visitar los lugares donde tuvieron lugar muchos de los acontecimientos que se narran en el reportaje.
La cámara muestra imágenes de mayo de 1945, cuando un jovial Hermann Göring se entrega a los aliados en las proximidades de la ciudad alemana de Augsburg. Después fue trasladado a un campo de concentración, provocando así la ira del Comandante en Jefe de la Luftwaffe. Al mismo tiempo, en Washington se estaban dando los primeros pasos para la constitución de un Tribunal Militar internacional.
En la segunda parte del documental, muestra las sesiones del Juicio de Nürenberg y veremos algunos de los incidentes protagonizados por el propio Göring, cuando, al finalizar la declaración de algunos de los testigos de la Fiscalía, les increpó llamándoles Verräter (Traidor).
El reportaje concluye con la sentencia y la lectura de la condena para cada acusado, que, en el caso de Göring, fue Tod durch den Strang (muerte en la horca), si bien la condena no pudo llevarse a efecto toda vez que Göring se suicidó en su celda ingiriendo una cápsula de cianuro potásico

Hermann Wilhelm Göring nació en el sanatorio Marienbad (Rosenheim, Baviera), cuarto hijo del matrimonio habido entre Heinrich Ernst Göring (31 de octubre de 1839 -- 7 de diciembre de 1913) y Franziska «Fanny» Tiefenbrunn, muerta en agosto de 1923. Göring tuvo dos hermanos y dos hermanas: Albert y Karl Ernst Göring y Olga Therese Sophia y Paula Elisabeth Rosa Göring.
La familia Göring era de orígenes aristocráticos y tenía ancestros tanto católicos como protestantes. Su padre, soldado profesional en tiempos de Otto von Bismarck, se convirtió en el primer gobernador del África Suroccidental Alemana. Vivió su infancia lejos de su familia, cuando su padre se jubiló fueron a vivir al principio cerca de Berlín. Pero la mayor parte del tiempo vivieron en Veldestein, en las proximidades de Núremberg, en un castillo medieval perteneciente al padrino de Hermann y padre de Albert, el doctor Hermann Espenstein.

Göring was appointed commander-in-chief of the Luftwaffe (air force) in 1935, a position he held until the final days of World War II. By 1940 he was at the peak of his power and influence; as minister in charge of the Four Year Plan, he was responsible for much of the functioning of the German economy in the build-up to World War II. Adolf Hitler promoted him to the rank of Reichsmarschall, a rank senior to all other Wehrmacht commanders, and in 1941 Hitler designated him as his successor and deputy in all his offices.
Göring's standing with Hitler was greatly reduced by 1942, when the Luftwaffe failed to fulfill its commitments and the German war effort was stumbling on both fronts. Göring largely withdrew from the military and political scene and focused on the acquisition of property and artwork, much of which was confiscated from Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Informed on 22 April 1945 that Hitler intended to commit suicide, Göring sent a telegram to Hitler requesting permission to assume control of the Reich. Considering it an act of treason, Hitler removed Göring from all his positions, expelled him from the party, and ordered his arrest. After World War II, Göring was convicted of war crimes and crimes against humanity at the Nuremberg trials. He was sentenced to death by hanging, but committed suicide by ingesting cyanide the night before the sentence was to be carried out.

(2006) Das Tribunal von Nürenberg - Görings letzte Schlacht (El Tribunal de Nürenberg - la última batalla de Göring) narra la historia del que fuera Reichsmarschall del Tercer Reich, Hermann Göring, y su duelo dialéctico con el Fiscal que dirigió la acusación en el Proceso de Nürnberg, el norteamericano Robert H. Jackson.
Para la elaboración del documental, su director Michael Kloft viajó por todo el mundo para entrevistar a testigos y conseguir grabaciones y documentos hasta ahora inéditos, además de visitar los lugares donde tuvieron lugar muchos de los acontecimientos que se narran en el reportaje.
La cámara muestra imágenes de mayo de 1945, cuando un jovial Hermann Göring se entrega a los aliados en las proximidades de la ciudad alemana de Augsburg. Después fue trasladado a un campo de concentración, provocando así la ira del Comandante en Jefe de la Luftwaffe. Al mismo tiempo, en Washington se estaban dando los primeros pasos para la constitución de un Tribunal Militar internacional.
En la segunda parte del documental, muestra las sesiones del Juicio de Nürenberg y veremos algunos de los incidentes protagonizados por el propio Göring, cuando, al finalizar la declaración de algunos de los testigos de la Fiscalía, les increpó llamándoles Verräter (Traidor).
El reportaje concluye con la sentencia y la lectura de la condena para cada acusado, que, en el caso de Göring, fue Tod durch den Strang (muerte en la horca), si bien la condena no pudo llevarse a efecto toda vez que Göring se suicidó en su celda ingiriendo una cápsula de cianuro potásico

Hermann Wilhelm Göring nació en el sanatorio Marienbad (Rosenheim, Baviera), cuarto hijo del matrimonio habido entre Heinrich Ernst Göring (31 de octubre de 1839 -- 7 de diciembre de 1913) y Franziska «Fanny» Tiefenbrunn, muerta en agosto de 1923. Göring tuvo dos hermanos y dos hermanas: Albert y Karl Ernst Göring y Olga Therese Sophia y Paula Elisabeth Rosa Göring.
La familia Göring era de orígenes aristocráticos y tenía ancestros tanto católicos como protestantes. Su padre, soldado profesional en tiempos de Otto von Bismarck, se convirtió en el primer gobernador del África Suroccidental Alemana. Vivió su infancia lejos de su familia, cuando su padre se jubiló fueron a vivir al principio cerca de Berlín. Pero la mayor parte del tiempo vivieron en Veldestein, en las proximidades de Núremberg, en un castillo medieval perteneciente al padrino de Hermann y padre de Albert, el doctor Hermann Espenstein.
Ese entorno romántico influyó en su inclinación por todo tipo de vestimenta. Sus resultados en la escuela, luego de un internado privado, fueron mediocres, pero todo cambió en cuanto se le envió a la escuela de cadetes de Karlsruhe y más tarde, en 1910, a la famosa Gross Lichterfelde cerca de Berlín.
