DONALD Trump is expected to bring in private sector counterparts into his new cabinet as well as reward key loyalists, reports say.

Now that Mr Trump is US president-elect, commentators have started musing on who is likely to surround himself with both inside cabinet and within his inner circle.

Politico reports that Forrest Lucas, the 74-year-old co-founder of oil products company Lucas Oil, is a top contender for Interior Secretary, while donor and Goldman Sachs veteran Steven Mnuchin could become Treasury Secretary.

Key supporters including Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani and Chris Christie are all expected to receive top jobs.

Gingrich could be in line to become Secretary of State, while Giuliani and Christie could vie for US Attorney-General.

Christie is the head of Trump’s transition team, however he has recently been engulfed in scandal after aides of his were found guilty of closing lanes of the George Washington Bridge as political retribution.

Dr Ben Carson, who himself ran for the Republican nomination, is reportedly being considered for Health and Human Services Secretary.

Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s campaign manager who turned his fortunes around when she was appointed in July, is expected to be offered “whatever she wants.”

Conway is yet to say if she plans to continue working for Trump or return to her polling and advising business.
