K–12 (spoken as "k twelve", "k through twelve", or "k to twelve") is a term for the sum of primary and secondary education. It is used in the United States, Canada, South Korea, Turkey, the Philippines, Egypt, Australia and Iran. P–12 is also occasionally used in Australia. The expression is a shortening of kindergarten (K) for 4- to 6-year-olds through twelfth grade (12) for 17- to 19-year-olds, the first and last grades of free education in these countries, respectively. Also called ELHI, as a short for elementary to high school.
The term is often used in school website URLs, generally appearing before the country code top-level domain (or in the United States, the state top-level domain). The term "PK–12" is sometimes used to add pre-kindergarten.
It is also used by American multinationals selling into the educational sector, such as Dell where UK customers are presented with this as a market segment choice.
In Australia, P–12 is sometimes used in place of K–12, particularly in Queensland, where it is used as an official term in the curriculum framework. P–12 schools serve children for the thirteen years from prep until Year 12, without including the separate kindergarten component. In Canada (Nova Scotia) P–12 is used commonly in place of K–12 and serves students from grade Primary through 12.
A high school (also secondary school, senior school, secondary college) is a school that provides adolescents with part or all of their secondary education. It may come after primary school or middle school and be followed by higher education or vocational training.
The term "high school" originated in Scotland, with the world's oldest high school being Edinburgh's Royal High School from 1505. The Royal High School was used as a model for the first public high school in the United States, Boston Latin School founded in Boston, Massachusetts.
The precise stage of schooling provided by a high school differs from country to country, and may vary within the same jurisdiction. In all of New Zealand and Malaysia, along with most of Britain and parts of Australia, Bangladesh and Canada, high school means the same thing as secondary school, but instead of starting in 9th grade, these "secondary schools" begin at ages 11 or 12.
In Australia, high school is a secondary school, from Year 7 or Year 8 through to Year 12, varying from state to state. High school immediately follows primary (elementary) school; therefore, a Year-7 Australian high-school student is sometimes as young as 12. In Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory, the term "high school" generally refers to Years 7–10, whereas the term "College" is used for Years 11–12. In Victoria the term "secondary college" has largely replaced the term "high school" following the reforms of the Labor Government in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Some schools have retained the name "high school" (such as Melbourne High School) and many have now dropped the "secondary" and are simply known as "college".
A planned community, or planned city, is any community that was carefully planned from its inception and is typically constructed in a previously undeveloped area. This contrasts with settlements that evolve in a more ad hoc fashion. Land use conflicts are less frequent in planned communities since they are planned carefully. The term new town refers to planned communities of the new towns movement in particular, mainly in the United Kingdom. It was also common in the European colonization of the Americas to build according to a plan either on fresh ground or on the ruins of earlier Amerindian cities.
Several of the world's capital cities are planned cities, including Canberra in Australia, Brasília in Brazil, Belmopan in Belize, New Delhi in India, Valletta in Malta, Abuja in Nigeria, Astana in Kazakhstan, Naypyidaw in Burma, Islamabad in Pakistan and Washington, D.C., in the United States. In Egypt, a new capital city east of Cairo has been proposed. The federal administrative centre of Malaysia, Putrajaya, is also a planned city.
New York is a state in the Northeastern United States and is the United States' 27th-most extensive, fourth-most populous, and seventh-most densely populated state. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south and Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border in the Atlantic Ocean with Rhode Island, east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the north and Ontario to the west and north. The state of New York, with an estimated 19.8 million residents in 2015, is often referred to as New York State to distinguish it from New York City, the state's most populous city and its economic hub.
With an estimated population of nearly 8.5 million in 2014, New York City is the most populous city in the United States and the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States. The New York City Metropolitan Area is one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. New York City is a global city, exerting a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace defining the term New York minute. The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York City is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world, as well as the world's most economically powerful city. New York City makes up over 40% of the population of New York State. Two-thirds of the state's population lives in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and nearly 40% live on Long Island. Both the state and New York City were named for the 17th century Duke of York, future King James II of England. The next four most populous cities in the state are Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse, while the state capital is Albany.
A school is an institution designed for the teaching of students (or "pupils") under the direction of teachers. Most countries have systems of formal education, which is commonly compulsory. In these systems, students progress through a series of schools. The names for these schools vary by country (discussed in the Regional section below) but generally include primary school for young children and secondary school for teenagers who have completed primary education. An institution where higher education is taught, is commonly called a university college or university.
In addition to these core schools, students in a given country may also attend schools before and after primary and secondary education. Kindergarten or pre-school provide some schooling to very young children (typically ages 3–5). University, vocational school, college or seminary may be available after secondary school. A school may also be dedicated to one particular field, such as a school of economics or a school of dance. Alternative schools may provide nontraditional curriculum and methods.
K to 12 (also K-12) is an education system implemented by the Department of Education. "K" means Kindergarten while "12" represents the succeeding 12 years of basic education (6 years in elementary, 4 years in junior high school, and 2 years in senior high school). This is a move made by the government to ensure that every student is competently equipped with enhanced basic life skills for lifelong learning and employment here and abroad. 5 Reasons To Be Thankful For Online Private K12 Schools By Anna Peacock-McLaughlin This is the season to be thankful. Truthfully, we have so much to be thankful for as stakeholders in the virtual education community. This platform is just so forward….so amazing….so brilliant. I'm so thankful to be a part of online education. 1. My mother (and grandmother) always said, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." But, let's face it, everyone does not abide by that wonderful old saying. Indeed, bullying is a HUGE social issue students around the globe are talking about. Thankfully, K12 is taking a stand against bullying! http://www.learningliftoff.com/zero-bullying/ #zerobullying 2. The teachers rock! As a teacher, I'm a bit basis! However, there are no if...
We take you behind the scenes of LPA's master planning process with one of LPA's longest clients, Dr. David Verdugo and Michael Bishop of Paramount Unified School District. LPA's integrated K-12 schools design team worked closely with district staff, the Paramount community and McCarthy Builders to transform the outdated Paramount High School campus into a functional, supportive 21st century learning environment. School facilities play a big role in the educational development of students. Planning an entire school district and campus around programming, budget and site constraints is no easy task. LPA Principal Jim Kisel explains the four pillars of LPA's K-12 facility master planning: engagement, assessment, capability and the mission. Together with the school district, the school's stu...
http://www.lpainc.com/ At McBride High, learning happens everywhere. On the 150,000-square-foot campus, each small learning academy includes dedicated career labs with a direct connection to outdoor learning spaces. This gives students the opportunity to move learning from the classroom onto the campus promenade and to share ideas between each academy. LPA's integrated design team worked with Long Beach Unified School District to create a campus that provides specialized technologies and amenities for the CTE curriculum, while equipping the school with sustainable features that meet the district's bottom line. What is STEM? It's the acronym for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. But while kindergarten through 12th grade education usually focuses on science or mathematics in isolation, all four of these disciplines are closely intertwined in the real world. Imagine if K-12 students were taught in ways that highlighted these connections, making their education more relevant to their lives and opening doors to new and exciting careers. Watch this video and tell us what you think! For more information about integrated STEM education, check out the report: http://www.nap.edu/catalog/18612/stem-integration-in-k-12-education-status-prospects-and-an
The history of India and Hinduism is taught in 6th and 7th grade social studies classes to nearly 4 million American children each year, along with the history of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and sometimes Jainism. The course material on Hinduism is negative in tone and scholastically deficient. This presentation will explain how the course material is created and adopted, and how Hindus can improve the process. Presented by Acharya Arumuganathaswami, managing editor of Hinduism Today, at the Uberoi Conference, held October 1, 2011, at Loyola-Marymount University in Los Angeles, October 1, 2011.

You decide everything with your eyes.
i drink sometimes just to get by and it doesn't seem right, but it keeps me in line. you would keep your self locked up inside, i cant find the key so i don't try.
it's that way because i know it's the way you want it. and it's that way because i know it's the way you like it.
if we would just try to divide ourselves, then might find the reasons why we fight. but we just run around in circles. watch t.v. just for the commercials sometimes.
it's that way because i know it's the way you want it. and its that way because i know it's the way you like it.
watching t.v. while thinking about it. i am not so sure if i should tell you about this. i can't expect you to accept why i've kept you. must you always be so sure.
you borrow my sorrow. keep it in your head and save it for tomorrow. no one knows just why.
