This year the event will mark the centenaries of the Battle of the Somme and the Battle of Jutland, the 25th anniversary of the Gulf War and the and the 80th anniversary of the first flight of the Supermarine Spitfire. Other royals attending the service on Saturday include the Duke of Edinburgh (left, with the Queen), the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall (right) and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (middle).

Mark Woods stole the nation's heart after he appealed for fellow dog lovers to join him on his last walk with Walnut, the 18-year-old whippet he has had since a puppy. Police name final three victims of Croydon tram crash that killed seven

Police have announced the final three names of the passengers killed in the Croydon tram crash. Donald Collett, 62, of Croydon (pictured left); Philip Logan, 52, (right) and Robert Huxley, 63, both of New Addington, died after the tram overturned.
