Michael Douglas has it wrong, and Val Kilmer does not have cancer.

VAL Kilmer made his first public appearance since denying reports he is battling cancer, and rather than easing fears about his health, it increased speculation.

Kilmer presented the film version of his one-man play, Citizen Twain, in Los Angeles on Thursday, before returning to the stage to answer audience questions.

In video from the event, which was posted online by People, the actor can be seen struggling through pleasantries, gasping between words and wiping at his mouth, while trying to get through a handful of sentences.

During the post-movie Q & A, Kilmer explained that he had to cancel an upcoming tour of Citizen Twain because of a swollen tongue.

“I went into rehearsals down in Florida and started having trouble with my speech,” he said. “Obviously I’m still recovering. My tongue swelled up and I cancelled the tour. As I’m recovering I’m showing this.”

Late last month, Michael Douglas said that Kilmer was battling oral cancer during an event in London. The next day, friends of the actor told Page Six he was doing well and getting back to work.
