Two-bedroom Frankston South original engaged in $750,000 sale to young couple

A NEWLY engaged couple from the inner suburbs have paid $750,000 for a two-bedroom Frankston South house.

The price for the couple’s first home far exceeded Eview Group agent Badiha Cook’s expectations for 26 Plummer Ave.

“It had a price guide of $680,000 and we thought it might go for $700,000 but to get $750,000 was a great result,” Ms Cook said.

“The Prahran buyer, who grew up in Frankston, was keen to return and secure their first home in the area.”

The 702sq m property was on the market for 10 days and had multiple offers due to its sought-after location and potential for an extension.

“The couple will move in and renovate and extend the property. They were willing to pay that little bit extra to secure the elevated home located in a fast-developing area,” Ms Cook added.

The triple-fronted home had period features such as double-hung windows, polished timber floorboards, fireplaces, ornamental cornices and high ceilings. Its Olivers Hill position put it within a stroll of the foreshore and creek, plus it was also in the Frankston High School zone. The house sold in 2009 for $545,000, according to CoreLogic.

Ms Cook said the number of homes for sale usually rose after the AFL Grand Final and Melbourne Cup weekends but had not so far this spring.

“Homeowners who wish to sell cannot as there are not enough properties for them to buy. The lack of stock is helping keep prices strong,” Ms Cook said.
