Julia Watson’s cancer battle touches people all over the world

WOMEN from all over the world touched by the cancer fight of Frankston blogger Julia Watson are rallying to help her family.

The mother of four was diagnosed in 2013 and wrote a book that captured her battle with the disease: Breakfast, School Run, Chemo. It was subtitled ‘The Sometimes Funny, Definitely not Depressing, True Story of a Mum with Cancer’.

She also writes a blog Five fairies and a fella.

A gofundme page has been set up so supporters can kick in for the Julia Watson Family Fund.

More than $35,000 has been raised in nine days and the campaign is closing in on the target of $50,000.

Radio and TV personality Meshel Laurie is one supporter and has kicked in $500. Others from all over the world — who have never met Julia but read her blog — have also opened their wallets.

Chrissie Swan donated $1000 while other bloggers who have donated or put the call out include Nikki Parkinson from Styling You, Chantelle Ellem from Fat Mum Slim, Beth MacDonald from BabyMac, Mrs Woog from Woogsworld, Carly Findlay and Pip Lincolne from Meet Me at Mike’s.

One woman wrote: “You’ve touched many lives Julia, I’ve been following your journey for months. Wish I could give more xxx”.

“Our beautiful, courageous, inspiring and brave friend Julia has put in a long, hard and arduous fight against stage four bowel cancer,” supporters wrote on the gofundme page.

“Unfortunately her fight is now over and, all that can be done, has been done.

“Jules needs to rest now and spend her remaining days with her amazing husband Gary and their four gorgeous daughters.”

The statement added: “She can’t do this unless Gaz can be with her.

“And this can only happen if we, Julia’s friends and loved ones take care of the rest so Gaz and their girls can be by Julia’s side every moment they have left together.”

In a recent Facebook post, Julia thanked friends and loved ones for their support.

“I wanted to let you know how much you have all meant to me, so much love and support along the way.”

In another Facebook post, the mother of four wrote: “With my precious girls tonight. Reasons to live.”
