Shepparton United premiership gun Shaun Huy recruited to Heidelberg in Northern Football League

HEIDELBERG has recruited Goulburn Valley Football League premier onballer Shaun Huy as the Tigers sets their sights on back-to-back Northern Football League premierships.

Huy is the only confirmed inclusion to date for the Tigers, who have re-signed their premiership team.

Heidelberg coach Charles Gaylard said Huy, who was a part of Shepparton United’s 2011 premiership, had committed verbally to the club and was expected to sign in the coming days.

“He is a hard-nosed onballer that has played a lot of country footy,” Gaylard said.

“We’ve got a few ex-Shepparton boys that play with us, like Josh Gribben, Matt Pianto, Ben Cosgriff, so they know him so that’s how that one worked out.

“By all reports he is a really good clubman, so that is something we identified as well.

“He lives in Melbourne, or just out of Melbourne, so he has been travelling back (to Shepparton) for a little while.”

The only confirmed departure from Heidelberg is Allan Young, who managed just two senior games this year.

Gaylard said the NFL’s Division 1 salary cap of $225,000 would not be a problem for the Tigers.

“I’ve been told it won’t affect us with our current list. We’ll be fine,” he said.

“Everyone has to adhere to the rules so we are just like every other club.”

Heidelberg starts pre-season training on December 5.
