Lima /ˈliːmə/ is the capital and the largest city of Peru. It is located in the valleys of the Chillón, Rímac and Lurín rivers, in the central coastal part of the country, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Together with the seaport of Callao, it forms a contiguous urban area known as the Lima Metropolitan Area. With a population of almost 10 million, Lima is the most populous metropolitan area of Peru, and the third largest city in the Americas (as defined by "city proper"), just behind São Paulo and Mexico City.
Lima was founded by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro on January 18, 1535, as Ciudad de los Reyes. It became the capital and most important city in the Spanish Viceroyalty of Peru. Following the Peruvian War of Independence, it became the capital of the Republic of Peru. Today, around one-third of the Peruvian population lives in the metropolitan area.
Lima is home to one of the oldest higher learning institutions in the New World. The National University of San Marcos, founded on May 12 of 1551, during Spanish colonial regime, is the oldest continuously functioning university in the Americas.

Tyler Ulis (born January 5, 1996) is an American college basketball player who is playing his sophomore season for the Kentucky Wildcats as a member of the 2015–16 team. At Kentucky in 2015, he led his team in assists, he made the 2015 SEC All-Freshman Team and led the 2014–15 Kentucky team that won its first 38 games before losing to Wisconsin in the final four of the 2015 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament.
He played for Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois. He was selected to play in both the 2014 McDonald's All-American Game and the 2014 Jordan Brand Classic. As a high school junior, he was a first team All-state selection, but he was overlooked by most top scouts until after his junior year of high school due to his height.
Ulis was born in Southfield, Michigan, and lived in Lima, Ohio, with his mother. He ran track as a youth, competing in the 800 meters and 1500 meters. He trained for basketball with his cousin and 2009 Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Year Travis Walton. Another of his cousins was Shareese Ulis, point guard for Cincinnati Lady Bearcats, who had been a two-time Toledo Blade Player of the Year.

When it comes to original Peruvian fast food / Peruvian junk food you absolutely have to try salchipapas or choripapas. Originating from the streets of Lima, Salchipapa literally means sausage (salchicha) and potato (papa). The dish is basically thinly sliced sausages and french fries with additional toppings such as cheese and egg and dipping sauces that include aji and ketchup. Choripapas is exactly the same aside from the fact chorizo is swapped for the salchicha. We had ours at Sanguchisimo in Miraflores, Lima, Peru. Many have raved about Lima, Ohio native Tyler Ulis ever since he was just an undersized guard from western Ohio. There's even more fans of Ulis ever since he joined arguably the nation's top basketball school in the University of Kentucky, but there's another young "undersized" guard that not many have seen and he's from Lima too. His name is Khalil Luster, a lightning quick floor general that possesses a very unique skillset. At 11, he's making great decisions off of ball screens and getting the rock to teammates where they need it. He runs the floor, not many can stay in front of him, he's scrappy on defense and he commands the offense like not many others his age. Does that sound like a Tyler Ulis to you? I'd have to say yes. You'll be hearing Luster's name more and more as he is alrea...

https://www.expedia.com/Lima.d178277.Destination-Travel-Guides Lima gives access to the mystical city of Machu Picchu in the Andes, Lake Titicaca in the highlands, the lush Amazon jungle and Peru’s coastal desert. But, before you go to see all of this, it’s worth exploring the capital first. Just like Peru’s landscapes, Lima is a city of contrasts: rich and poor, ancient and modern, practical and elegant, fascinating and entertaining. In Lima’s Historic Center is the Plaza de Armas, also known as the Plaza Mayor. This is where the Spanish explorer founded Lima and the Lima Cathedral, contains the tomb of Francisco Pizarro. Next door, the Government Palace is still the official seat of government today. Outside of the city center are many more visitor attractions. The Bajada de los Baños...
