At the time, the purchase set a record in Sydney however 13 years on, the apartment is set to sell for much more than that.

Expected to go for around $30 million, the sale would again smash the national apartment record which currently sits at $25 million.

The property was originally bought in 1998 by Nutrimetics founder Imelda Roche and her husband Bill for close to $10 million.

Crowe married singer-actress Danielle Spencer back in 2003 however the couple were separated in October, 2012. They have two boys together Charles, 12 and Tennyson, 10.

The Woolloomooloo apartment features uninterrupted views of Sydney Harbour with floor space of a thousand square metres and seven car spaces reports a source from Domain.

Covering the entire third floor, it’s reported the luxurious apartment could easily be split into three and sold off separately.

The Hollywood star’s longtime friend and former classmate John McGrath has been in charge of the sale with his real estate company taking a number of off-market buyers through the expansive apartment.

If it fails to sell, the third floor spread will hit the open market by early next year.

Although the Gladiator star is selling off this piece of prime Sydney real estate he still retains multiple properties in Australia including a 320-hectare property near Coffs Harbour and Rose Bay mansion he and Spencer bought for $10 million.

The highest price for a Sydney apartment was set last year after the Bennelong penthouse was sold to hotelier Sam Arnaout for $22 million.
