Brendy Ford brings his alter ego Judy Free to life in ‘A Very Judy Christmas’ at The Butterfly Club

A NEW show at the Butterfly Club this festive season is set to be as “camp as Christmas”.

Join inner south performer Brendy Ford, and his alter ego Judy Free, for A Very Judy Christmas.

Ford, a seasoned performer, said he created the Judy Free character — a flamboyant blonde socialite singleton — “a few years ago” and has loved watching her grow and develop.

“She’s kind of like Barbie, she’s done everything — except unlike Barbie, Judy’s not successful,” he said.

“Like, she’ll apply to be an air hostess and end up being a bus tour conductor instead.”

In his latest show, Ford’s alter ego has decided to throw a Christmas talk show soiree with a slew of A-list celebrity guests — but the guests have cancelled.

In a state of despair, Judy is visited by four acquaintances who teach her how to bring back the Christmas spirit.

Ford said the show takes the best parts of The Ellen (Degeneres) Show and Saturday Night Live and gives them “the ultimate Glee treatment” in this comedic cabaret.

“The show is an absolute hoot and as camp as Christmas,” he said.

Directed by Romi Kia Freedman and starring Ford, the show features guest performances by musical theatre performers Stephanie John, Bethany Eloise, Stephanie James, Heather Bloom and Anne Gasko, with accompaniment by Jane Matheson.

A Very Judy Christmas is on for four shows only at the Butterfly Club on November 26 and December 3 at 7pm and 8.30pm.

Tickets are selling fast and are available on 9663 8107 or on The Bufferly Club’s website.
