Michael Paul "Mike" Lookinland (born December 19, 1960) is an American former actor. He is best known for his role as the youngest brother Bobby Brady on The Brady Bunch from 1969 until 1974.
Lookinland was born in 1960 in Mount Pleasant, Utah, a small town located eighty miles south of Salt Lake City. He has a younger brother named Todd, who starred in The Blue Bird with Elizabeth Taylor, and an older sister Terese. Lookinland grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is a self-professed conservationist and "camping nut." He attended the private Chadwick School on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in Southern California, and graduated in 1978.
Lookinland was a TV commercial actor before he was cast in The Brady Bunch, having done around thirty commercials. He has naturally sandy-colored wavy hair. Because his hair color did not match Peter's or Greg's natural dark brown color, he had to have his hair dyed dark brown and straightened to match. Occasionally, the lights on set were so hot that his dye job would run down his face. During the last two seasons of The Brady Bunch, his natural hair color was finally allowed to show.
The Brady Bunch is an American sitcom created by Sherwood Schwartz that originally aired from September 26, 1969, to March 8, 1974, on ABC. The series revolves around a large blended family with six children.
Considered one of the last of the old-style family sitcoms, the series aired for five seasons and, after its cancellation in 1974, went into syndication in September 1975. While the series was never a critical or ratings success during its original run, it has since become a popular staple in syndication, especially among children and teenage viewers. The Brady Bunch's success in syndication ultimately led to several reunion films and spinoff series: The Brady Bunch Hour (1976–77), The Brady Girls Get Married (1981), The Brady Brides (1981), and the 1988 television reunion movie A Very Brady Christmas. That movie's success led to another spinoff series, The Bradys, which aired on CBS in 1990.
In 1995, the series was adapted into a satirical comedy theatrical film titled The Brady Bunch Movie, followed by A Very Brady Sequel in 1996. A second sequel, The Brady Bunch in the White House, aired on Fox in November 2002 as a made-for-TV movie.
The following is a list and description of the primary characters from the classic American television series The Brady Bunch. The characters also appeared in all subsequent reunions, remakes, and theatrical/TV films.
Michael Paul "Mike" Brady (bottom center), portrayed by Robert Reed in the TV show and Gary Cole in movies, is the male head of the Brady household. In episode #4 of The Bradys, "Hat in the Ring," when Mike is sworn in as City Councilman, his full name is given as Michael Thomas Brady. Mike, a widowed architect, brought three sons to his marriage with Carol Martin and became the stepfather to her three daughters. He was named "Father of the Year" by a local newspaper after his stepdaughter Marcia submitted an essay in his honor. The character's parents were sometimes mentioned but never seen (unless depicted without identification at the wedding in the pilot), but his paternal grandfather, Judge Hank Brady (Robert Reed in a dual role) appears in one episode.
Brady is a surname derived from the Irish surname Ó Brádaigh or Mac Brádaigh.
In a listing by the U.S. Census Bureau of the Most Common U.S. Surnames Brady is ranked at #411.
Notable people with the surname include:
Susan Marie Olsen (born August 14, 1961) is an American former child actress, animal welfare advocate, radio host, and creator of pop art. Olsen is known for her role as Cindy Brady, the youngest child of Mike and Carol Brady (played by Robert Reed and Florence Henderson) in the sitcom The Brady Bunch for the full run of the show, from 1969 to 1974.
Olsen was born in Santa Monica, California, the youngest of four children. Her siblings are: Larry (24 years older), Christopher (14 years older), and Diane (5 years older). Christopher was also a child actor, perhaps best known for his role in The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956).
Olsen landed a number of supporting roles in television, most notably in Ironside, Gunsmoke, and Julia, and appeared in the Elvis Presley movie The Trouble With Girls (1968) as a squeaky-clean singer in a singing contest.
At age eight, Olsen was cast as Cindy on The Brady Bunch. As an adult, Olsen has expressed that portraying Cindy made friendships difficult for her as a child. She most disliked the season two "tattletale" episode, in which Cindy incessantly snitches on her siblings. Because of the episode, she was shunned by her real-life peers, who did not understand the difference between actors and their characters.
