Episode 1 is the first episode of the ITV drama Primeval. The episode was aired on 10 February 2007 as a pilot for the series. The pilot became a success and was picked up before the series was aired.
At night. A Gorgonopsid emerges from the Forest of Dean pursuing Dr. Helen Cutter. Unable to find shelter in a nearby closed supermarket, Helen flees back into the forest. With no witnesses to her disappearance, she is presumed dead.
Eight years pass. At Central Metropolitan University, graduate student Connor Temple approaches his tutor in evolutionary zoology, Professor Nick Cutter, and Cutter’s assistant, Stephen Hart, with a newspaper photograph of a Therapsid-like creature. Cutter initially dismisses it as a hoax, but decides to investigate upon learning that the sighting took place in the Forest of Dean, where his wife disappeared.
At the Forest of Dean, Cutter, Stephen, and Connor find evidence of a large and powerful predator. They are joined in their search by Claudia Brown, a junior-level agent from the Home Office sent to investigate the monster sighting.
Episode I, Episode 1 or Episode One may refer to:
The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the world's governing body in the sport of bicycle racing, classifies races according to a rating scale.
The rating is represented by a code made of two or three parts and indicates both the type or style of race (the first part), and its importance or difficulty (the second and third parts). The first part can be an integer or an abbreviation, and the second part, when present, are usually integers. Both parts are separated by a period or decimal point (.).
A higher rated race will result in the successful riders receiving more world ranking points.
The first part of the codes to rate a road race is '1' for a one-day race, and '2' for a multi-day (stage) race. They are separated from the second part of the classification, the ranking, by a decimal point. 'HC' (beyond categorization, from French hors catégorie) is the highest ranking category, followed by '1' and then '2'. For example, a race rated 1.1 equates to a one-day, category 1 race.
The science wars were a series of intellectual exchanges, between scientific realists and postmodernist critics, about the nature of scientific theory and intellectual inquiry. They took place principally in the United States in the 1990s in the academic and mainstream press. Scientific realists (such as Norman Levitt, Paul R. Gross, Jean Bricmont and Alan Sokal) argued that scientific knowledge is real, and accused the postmodernists of having effectively rejected scientific objectivity, the scientific method, and scientific knowledge. Postmodernists interpreted Thomas Kuhn's ideas about scientific paradigms to mean that scientific theories are social constructs, and philosophers like Paul Feyerabend argued that other, non-realist forms of knowledge production were better suited to serve people personal and spiritual needs.
Though much of the theory associated with 'postmodernism' (see poststructuralism) did not make any interventions into the natural sciences, the scientific realists took aim at its general influence. The scientific realists argued that large swaths of scholarship, amounting to a rejection of objectivity and realism, had been influenced by major 20th Century poststructuralist philosophers (such as Jacques Derrida, Gilles Deleuze, Jean-François Lyotard and others), whose work they declared to be incomprehensible or meaningless. They implicated a broad range of fields in this trend, including cultural studies, cultural anthropology, feminist studies, comparative literature, media studies, and science and technology studies. They accused those postmodernist critics who did actually discuss science of having a limited understanding of it.
A revised version of Episode 1.1
In this first volume of The Science Wars, we’ll be looking at the epistemology of radical constructivists. We will be using feminist epistemology as our case study since it was the first to be developed comprehensively, and since its structure is the template for all other epistemologies subscribed to by this camp. In this first episode, we’ll be introducing the philosophical "thought" of Sandra Harding, noting its similarities to Lysenkoism and its disturbingly heavy influence on Progressive thought. NOTES Note 1: This is a reference to Zhdanovism, the artistic equivalent to Lysenkoism. I regard such things as the Bechdel Test and The Male Gaze, along with that ridiculous recent episode in Canada where a woman of the wrong ethnic origin had her art show shut down due to outrage over “c...

This is the first episode of Barriers, a mini-series from the early 1980s. It's not as widely known as it deserves to be, although there have been many messages and comments from people who remember its high production values and emotionally rewarding & unusual subject matter very fondly. The series follows Billy (Benedict Taylor), who is in his late teens when his destiny is changed by family tragedy. Vincent Whitaker (Paul Rogers), aged 70, is shocked to find that he has suddenly become Billy's guardian. Through 20 episodes Billy searches for the truth about his background while gradually forming a close friendship with Mr Whitaker. I have, I have spoken
Enjoy the black demise
Betray, you betrayers
Taste life blood from your own kind
Ignite waiting darkness
What you fear comes alive
Dry lips, chant damnation
Driving man to self destruction
No one can save you now
Behold the black demise
Cursed gods have forsaken
The lands of ruined mankind
Invades human nature
This lost and perfect rapture
Evil domination
Driving man to self destruction
Enjoy the black demise!!!
Taste life blood from your own side
Feel your flesh burning inside
Darkness blinds your perception
Driving man to self destruction
