A fisherman has been stabbed in the stomach by two men during a robbery on the NSW south coast.

The 28-year-old was fishing on the Nowra bridge at about 11pm on Friday when he was approached from behind by two men who allegedly assaulted him and stole items from his tackle box, police say.

The fisherman walked to a nearby home where he called emergency services and was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital with a small stab wound to his abdomen and bruising and grazes to his head and back.
