- 15 March - Turkey withdrew from Central Eastern Treaty Organization (CENTO), an international organization
- 1 May - Curfew in İstanbul. Violeters were arrested
- 9 May - General protest of the goldsmiths against the government
- 3 June - Trabzonspor won the championship of Turkish football league.[2]

- 10 July - Mehmet Ali Ağca, who was charged with the murder of Abdi İpekçi was arrested
