The 15-year-old driver, Luke Lee, died at the scene.

Billie’s mother said her “lucky little star” had woken in hospital on Friday.

“Billie is awake she is little bit groggy but that’s yet to wear off she remembers us all,” Kristy Penrose posted on Facebook.

“So everyone can stop stressing over that.”

There had been fears Billie would have irreparable brain damage.

The teen was one of four rushed to hospital after the Holden Commodore they’d borrowed from a friend crashed into a tree on October 24.

Kye Patterson, 17 from Sunshine West, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, and 16-year-old Sunshine West boy Bailey Hobbs, who was seated in the back, both sustained serious injuries.

Another girl, aged 13 from Sunbury, remains in hospital.
