The O'Reilly Factor, originally titled The O'Reilly Report from 1996 to 1998 and often called The Factor, is an American cable television news and talk show on the Fox News Channel hosted by political commentator Bill O'Reilly, who often discusses current controversial political issues with guests.
The O'Reilly Factor is generally pre-recorded, though on occasion it airs live if breaking news or special events are being covered (e.g. presidential addresses that occur during prime-time & debate coverage). It is usually taped between 5:00 and 7:00 PM Eastern Time and airs weekdays at 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM. The show is recorded "live to tape", meaning that the recording breaks for commercials as if the show was actually on the air while being recorded. Some guests are interviewed before the "live to tape" period and are slotted in the program as appropriate.
O'Reilly and his producers discuss potential topics twice a week. A producer will research the story and book guests for O'Reilly, and an information packet will be produced with possible angles for O'Reilly to explore.
William James O'Reilly, Jr. (born September 10, 1949), known as Bill O'Reilly, is an American television host, author, historian, journalist, syndicated columnist, and political commentator. He is the host of the political commentary program The O'Reilly Factor on the Fox News Channel. During the late 1970s and 1980s, he worked as a news reporter for various local television stations in the United States and eventually for CBS News and ABC News. From 1989 to 1995, he was anchor of the news magazine program Inside Edition.
O'Reilly is widely considered a conservative commentator, though some of his positions diverge from conservative orthodoxy. O'Reilly is registered as a member of the Independence Party of New York, and was formerly registered as a Republican (see: Political views of Bill O'Reilly) and characterizes himself as a "traditionalist." O'Reilly is the author of over a dozen books, and hosted The Radio Factor until early 2009.
O'Reilly was born on September 10, 1949, at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, to parents William James, Sr., (deceased) and Winifred Angela (Drake) O'Reilly, from Brooklyn and Teaneck, New Jersey, respectively. O'Reilly is of Irish descent, along with a small amount of English (Colonial American) ancestry. Some of his father's ancestors lived in County Cavan, Ireland, since the early eighteenth century, and on his mother's side, he has ancestry from Northern Ireland. The O'Reilly family lived in a small apartment in Fort Lee, New Jersey, when their son was born. In 1951 his family moved to Levittown, on Long Island. O'Reilly has a sister, Janet.
The O'Reilly Factor 11/9/16 | Anti Trump Protests Underway in Major Cities Across U.S Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-NYC) joined Bill O'Reilly on Wednesday to discuss President-Elect Donald Trump's prospective cabinet choices. O'Reilly said the five members of Trump's inner circle are likely the mayor himself, Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.), former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), General Michael Flynn, and campaign manager Kellyanne Conway. Giuliani added that General Keith Kellogg, New York Observer publisher Jared Kushner, Sen. Jefferson Sessions (R-Ala.), and campaign chairman Steven K. Bannon should also be included in that group.
The O'Reilly Factor 11/7/16 | Bill Clinton Delivers Remarks at Rally Ahead Of Hillary Clinton Writing once again, he said the bureau has now reviewed all of the e- mails that were on Huma Abedin's computer, she is Hillary Clinton's top assistant as you know. The bureau found nothing that would change the stated outcome of the case that Secretary Clinton should not be charged with national security violations. Of course, it is very good news for Mrs. Clinton who is under a shadow of corruption. However, you either believe Hillary Clinton is corrupt, or you don't. And anything short of an indictment is not going to change opinions. Those who pull a lever for Secretary Clinton on Tuesday surely know she plays by her own rules, not those you and I are forced to absorb. It is quite obvious t...

The O'Reilly Factor 11/3/16 | O'Reilly: 'There Should Be Grave Concern in the Clinton Camp' Hillary Clinton thought she had the election all locked up, but the Democratic nominee should actually be feeling "grave concern," according to Bill O'Reilly. In his Talking Points Memo tonight, O'Reilly suggested that the "tipping point" may have been reached, and ordinary Americans are becoming more and more disenchanted with Clinton. He noted that there are lingering ethical questions about her - highlighted by the revelation that the FBI has two active investigations related to her use of a private email server and the Clinton Foundation. "The controversies are seemingly endless," O'Reilly stated. He added that Clinton has had very little face time with the American people in recent weeks, ...
The O'Reilly Factor 10/31/16 | FBI vs Hillary Clinton Emails, CNN Fired Donna Brazile, Watters World Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer discussed the re-opening of the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails, with Bill O'Reilly on The O'Reilly Factor. "[FBI Director Jim] Comey did the right thing," Krauthammer said of his decision to inform Congress, "the only thing he could do." In September, Comey told Texas Congressman Lamar Smith at a hearing that he would likely notify legislators if new pertinent information regarding the Clinton probe surfaced. "He had no choice but to say 'this is what's going on'," Krauthammer said, "whether he knows that there is something that will torch her in those emails" is unknown. "According to what I've read...this was not brought to [C...
The O'Reilly Factor 11/2/16 | Bill O'Reilly on Donald Trump leading in Polls, Media for Hillary The polls have moved dramatically in Republican Donald Trump's favor over the last week, former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-Ark.) noted on The O'Reilly Factor. Huckabee called the new trend toward Trump the "wind behind his back", and a "godsend" for the New York businessman. "A lot of people are still not saying [to pollsters] who they're going to vote for," he said, noting that some voters may fear being labeled "racist" or "xenophobic" for verbally choosing Trump. He also said that Hillary Clinton's chastising of a heckler was a "big mistake" and that her deficit to Trump in number of rallies per day is to "keep her hidden". "It's easier to find Huma Abedin than it is to find Hillary at this ...

The O'Reilly Factor 11/1/16 | Bill O'Reilly Mike Pence interview, Donald Trump vs Hillary, Polls In his talking points memo Tuesday evening, Bill O'Reilly analyzed the current state of the presidential race. He noted that the race is currently within reputable polls' margins of error, and added that "no matter who wins...Americans will be uneasy" about the result. Hillary Clinton "devoted herself to public service for three decades, but has not really achieved anything outstanding," O'Reilly said, excepting her role aftermath as New York State's junior senator. She "actively participated in President Obama's failed attempt to place the United States in a subordinate position overseas," he said, adding that "foreign policy under Obama has been a chaotic failure." He also noted that t...
The O'Reilly Factor 10/25/16 | Is Election really rigged, Corruption at FBI, Obama & Clinton emails Tuesday on The O'Reilly Factor, Bill O'Reilly took a closer look into contentions by Donald Trump and many of his supporters that the electoral system in America is "rigged" against him. "Donald Trump has raised the [suspicion] that the system is rigged--Bernie Sanders also said that," O'Reilly said, pointing to the Vermont senator's primary against Hillary Clinton in which many 'superdelegates' swung the delegate tally in the former New York senator's favor. "Trump believes that the media, combined with suspect voting patterns is how the system is rigged," he said, "With more than 100 million Americans voting, it is virtually impossible for the actual vote tally to be rigged," he said. ...
The O'Reilly Factor 10/28/16 | FBI Reopens Hillary Clinton Email Investigation, Kellyanne Conway Bill O'Reilly analyzed the stunning new developments in the Hillary Clinton email scandal on "The Factor" tonight. O'Reilly said the FBI's decision to reopen its investigation into Clinton's private email server is "devastating" for her campaign. "Anything like this erodes enthusiasm for Hillary Clinton," O'Reilly explained. "Her hardcore people are [still] going to vote for her. But we're talking independents and we're talking Democrats who don't particularly like or trust her." O'Reilly said that drop in enthusiasm means lower voter turnout, and Clinton needs high turnout, particularly in battleground states like Pennsylvania and New Hampshire. He added that Donald Trump can use this to...

Dana Perino, who worked as White House Press Secretary for President George W. Bush and knows the family well, joined Bill O'Reilly on "The Factor" tonight to react. "I think even if Jeb hadn't even been in the primary and Donald Trump would have emerged as the winner of the Republican nomination that they still would not have supported him," Perino said. She acknowledged that she has not spoken to the Bushes specifically about this subject, but she believes they have concerns about Trump's policy, temperament, character and knowledge. "I know that it's not about Jeb. That's what I know," Perino said.

"The system is rigged," Trump said, arguing that the media has been "horrible" in their coverage of him, while giving Hillary Clinton a pass for her various scandals. He added that Clinton was also given a pass by the Justice Department and the FBI for her private email server and mishandling of state secrets. "She is so guilty in so many different ways that she shouldn't even be allowed to run for president," Trump stated. "So right there, the system is really rigged."
