The sad story of college football's last tie

Sometimes history isn't always pretty. Just over 20 years ago, Wisconsin and Illinois battled to a 3-3 tie that featured more subplots than points and made the impending overtime rule look good.

Utah, which hadn't beaten Arizona State in Tempe since 1976, set a school record with 22 tackles for a loss in a 49-26 victory. That is one fewer than the NCAA record. It also recorded 11 sacks, led by five from end Hunter Dimick. That broke the school's single-game record and is 3rd all-time in NCAA history. Dimick has tied the school record with 27 cart sacks. It's a good bet Dimick is going to be PAC-12 defensive player of the week.

Asked if there was legit contact on the foul that sent Dwyane Wade to the line for the game-sealing free throws, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra chuckled and said: "If it was last year? No, he got pushed out of bounds. This year? He's selling it."

Duke pulled the upset on No. 17 North Carolina, dealing a devastating blow to their rivals' Coastal Division hopes. If Virginia Tech beats Georgia Tech on Saturday, the Hokies will clinch the division and a spot in the ACC title game. Going into this game, UNC lamented its loss to Virginia Tech because it was played in a hurricane. But there is no such excuse against Duke. Daniel Jones outplayed future NFL pick Mitch Trubisky, and the defense came up with the play of the game when Alonzo Saxton had the clinching interception. After so many heartbreaking losses this season, this one had to feel so gratifying for so many reasons.

It's a final: Bulls 98, Heat 95, in Dwyane Wade's first game in Miami as a visitor. The Bulls move to 5-4, while the Heat fall to 2-5. Wade finished with 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Jimmy Butler led the Bulls with 20 points, while Hassan Whiteside had 20 points and 20 rebounds in the losing effort for Miami.

With the Bulls lead down to 2, Dwyane Wade drew a foul on what could generously be called a good sell job, avoiding a key turnover and earning his first boos of the night. He calmly sunk both free throws to give Chicago a 4-point cushion with 13.7 seconds left.

Duke redshirt freshman quarterback Daniel Jones has been stellar through three quarters with his arm and legs -- and his jump pass helped give Duke a 28-27 lead over rival North Carolina. The question is whether the Blue Devils can hold on. This is the same team that played No. 6 Louisville tough in defeat and took No. 14 Virginia Tech down to the wire in a three-point loss last week.

In Dwyane Wade's return to Miami, the Bulls have featured a strangely-heavy dose of Robin Lopez. His 17 shots easily eclipse his previous season high of 8, and are approaching his career high of 20. Lopez has 14 points, Wade has added 9, and the Bulls and Heat are tied 70-70 entering the fourth quarter.

Cody Kessler's first touchdown pass longer than 20 yards sent the Browns to 7-6 halftime lead. It is only the fourth time this season the Browns have led at halftime. It's not an exceptionally exciting game, but the Browns defense has sacked Joe Flacco twice and intercepted him once.

Heat guard Goran Dragic appeared to roll his ankle and had to be helped off the court. The Heat, however, immediately responded with a 7-0 run to take a 4-point lead over the Bulls late in the third quarter.
