Inserimento link[edit]

Salve. Vorrei inserire un link che indirizza a sito esterno in un testo. Ho già provato più volte ma viene considerato come indirizzo pubblicitario. Come risolvere?

il link è questo: http://bandadicropani.jimdo.com ho provato a creare una pagina anche ma non mi accetta i link. testi e link sono originali e non sono usati a scopo pubblicitario.

Is it possible to download a raw dataset of all world government organizations (city, state, province, etc.)?

If there is not a data value indicating it's a government organization, are all URLS in a table so that I can programmatically deduce which URLs are government, therefore indirectly indicating all government organizations?

thanks,

Alex Glaros

wikipedia font size too small[edit]

how do i increase the font size in the wikipedia app i just down loaded to my laptop as it is way too small, the std font that came with the wikipedia app?!? thank you. The wikipedia app is a good alternative for search!

A: On your computer, open Chrome. At the top right, click More Settings. At the bottom, click Show advanced settings. Under "Web Content," make the changes you want: Change everything: Next to "Page zoom," click the Down arrow . Then select the zoom option you want.

Math equations missing in all pages[edit]

In Firefox 3 and some older versions of IE the <math> is not rendered, the <meta> with "background: url()" using svg graphic is not rendered either. The pages without equations are crippled to uselessness. In mid-april 2016 it worked well with using PNG images, and also pages like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Displaying_a_formula refer to using PNG images... There is no mention of changing math technology in your "Tech news" either (at least since March this year, the change occured sometimes after mid-april...)

Using this old versions of web-browsers may be an important security-issue, since newer versions of Firefox with Firefox.js compiled into Omni.ja prevents security editing of snooping configuration items, the Chrome and some IE are unsecure due to inability to switch off javascript, very poor configuration options and more problems...

Web pages packed to MHT (MIME html) file format may be displayed inline in some e-mail clients, which also probably will not support <math> tags...

book and pdf creator font size[edit]

I do like the 2-column download pdf and create book options. I like to print them with the Adobe Reader print as booklet option. However, the font is then just a bit to small. I can increase that with the scale option of pdfjam bust just 8%. Is there somewhere hidden an option of the book creator for increasing the font size?? (I run Linux) Cheers, Janwillem

Help with installing Common.css and Common.js[edit]

Hello,

Every instruction I have seen on the web says to import them at MediaWiki:Common.css and MediaWiki:Common.js. However, when I do either, I get this error:

 "The requested URL /MediaWiki:Common.css was not found on this server."

Can someone just tell me how to import these into my Wiki? My wiki is here: http://[MyURL]/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

--Robert

Hi Robert. It can be very frustrating to install your own wiki, especially for myself because I just fumble around with techy things. :) I think you might want to post your request over on the MediaWiki website, not on Wikimedia, though someone here might be able to answer your question. There is a support desk on that website which looks promising. Killiondude (talk) 19:32, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

Thank you, Killiondude!

It sounds like you tried to set up short URLs and some path is incorrectly configured. If you're getting a HTTP 404 error from your Web server, it typically means either your rewrite rules are funky or you didn't appropriately edit a setting in LocalSettings.php (or both!). In addition to the support desk as Killiondude mentioned, we also have real-time interactive chat on IRC in the #mediawiki channel on irc.freenode.net. --MZMcBride (talk) 21:36, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

A new syntax for #if sections idea[edit]

The syntax of #if directive is hard to read (especially it is hard to read and understand for nontechnical users). I propose to introduce an alternative syntax for #if directive, having separate open and close tags.

Possible syntax:

<div if="condition">
...
</div>

or maybe

<if condition="...">
...
</if>

It is especially useful for excluding a part of an included template. (Yes, I know about <noinclude> directive, but it is not enough flexible to in/ex-clude parts of a page separately.)

edit.php does not work[edit]

When I try to run php5 ../web/w/maintenance/edit.php Tanakh:Title (with suitable stdin), it says:

Saving... failed
Edit aborted by hook.
It gave no explanation.

Please help me to configure it correctly.

I have

$wgNamespaceProtection[NS_TANAKH] = array( 'editauto' );

in my settings for the namespace in question.

I don't remember what `editauto` means. Please help.

It seems that this was because `Moderation` extension which asked me to moderate the bot edits.

I have moderated the edits and now the changes are accomplished. --VictorPorton (talk) 16:36, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

How to create P31 and P279 properties in my wikibase repository[edit]

I want to create a portal based on wikibase. I used [Wikidata build]. How can I create P31 (instance of) and P279 (subclass of) properties in my wikibase.

Problem back[edit]

Do you remember problems in es:WP this? It seems the problems are back, but only to Firefox users (like me). The bar and other scripts come and go intermittently. It´s possible to restore the bar pressing Preview several times, even when this is not a permanent or practical solution. Regards. --Ganímedes (talk) 13:38, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

@Ganímedes: Please see the console output of your web browser's developer tools to find reasons for such problems. In this case, ext.gadget.DetectaDesambiguaciones is broken: "TypeError: mw.Api is not a constructor". The line needs to be fixed by a sysop or admin of Spanish Wikipedia. See the docs. --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 10:42, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
Thanks a lot, -AKlapper, I'll do that. Regards. --Ganímedes (talk) 12:49, 27 December 2016 (UTC)

Help[edit]

Hi, I am Shriheeran, In a wikipedia in in my common css file i have typed, "display: none;" But now I can't see any thing in that wiki as I have typed that. I know any stewards or admins can edit that page and make my display on that wiki to visible. But how can I solve this problem myself rather than asking help to admins or stewards. Is there are any way please help and answer to my question!--Shriheeran (talk) 10:12, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

@Shriheeran: There is no such file on ta.wp. Please provide a full link. You could probably also edit the file from any other account, or when not being logged in (though that will expose your IP address)? --Malyacko (talk) 10:35, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
IP's can't edit user css/js files. --Stryn (talk) 10:38, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
Which Wikipedia? It's not easy to undo by yourself. With AWB it would be possible or using browser's developer console (or something like that) for example. Stryn (talk) 10:38, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
This is the link and please undo it--Shriheeran (talk) 13:14, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
