Verratti

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has urged the club’s hierarchy to lodge a record offer for unsettled Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti. The Italy international is not in good stead with the Ligue 1 champions following the recent criticism from the French media.

Verratti, 24, has struggled to make a mark at Parc des Princes this term with manager Unai Emery opting to play him in a more advanced role, something he is not used to.

ESPN claims that the Blues are keeping a close watch on the central midfielder, who is prepared to call quits on his Les Parisiens career. The former Pescara man is frustrated with the comments circulating in the country and has now signalled his agent to search for a new club.

Inter Milan are currently heading the queue to sign the talented playmaker, but the Blues could have their say with the future of Cesc Fabregas hanging in the balance.

Fabregas, 29, is no longer a regular at the West London giants, and he is expected to pursue a temporary deal away from Stamford Bridge in order to permit the arrival of a new midfield recruit.

For now, it is unclear Paris Saint-Germain whether would cash in on their asset in the New Year, and a final decision could be made based on the disciplinary behaviour of Verratti.

Verratti has turned out over 160 times for Paris Saint-Germain in all competitions.
