Dramatic spear-tackle end to police chase caught on camera in Hamilton Hill

A bystander has captured dramatic vision of a WA Police officer tackling a suspect from a stolen car chase in Hamilton Hill earlier this week.

The footage was the result of a car chase through Perth's suburbs, which began when police responded to a report of a vehicle driving erratically in Winthrop at around 12.15pm.

Police chase ends in spear tackle

A police officer's successful spear tackle after chasing a person running away from them in Hamilton Hill.

It will be alleged officers saw a stolen Subaru Outback in Spearwood and the driver of the vehicle failed to stop for police.

The car lost a front tyre which caused it to slow down considerably, and the driver allegedly continued to attempt to evade police through Spearwood and Hamilton Hill.

A police helicopter joined the chase, and followed the vehicle as it circled a shopping centre in Hamilton Hill.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop on Simms Road, and the driver allegedly attempted to flee on foot.

He was eventually apprehended in front of a Hamilton Hill bakery by WA Police dog Santos, and his handler.

The 33-year-old man received a puncture wound from Santos, and was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital for treatment.

He will be charged with burglary, car theft, failure to stop, aggravated assault, deprivation of liberty, theft, reckless driving and bail offences.
