Apparitions is a BBC drama about Father Jacob Myers, a priest of the Roman Catholic Church, played by Martin Shaw, who examines evidence of miracles to be used in canonisation but also performs exorcisms. As he learns, Jacob's duties run deeper than just sending demons back to Hell; he later must prevent them all from escaping.
Unlike most portrayals of exorcism and spirit possession in fiction, Apparitions is more religiously accurate and fact-based, incorporating the nature of demonic possession as described by the Church. It also recounts historical events associated with Christianity and other Abrahamic religions, which may have been caused by (or directly influenced) Heaven or Hell, indicating that the War described in the Bible may not have fully concluded.
The series is written by Joe Ahearne.
In Rome, a meeting is being held at the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. Father Jacob, a London priest and investigator of miracles for the Congregation, has presented a case that may lead to Mother Teresa's canonization: Vimal, a young man who is currently training to enter the priesthood, was cured of leperosy (without antibiotics) after praying to Mother Teresa.

Britain's Got Talent: You'd be forgiven for judging the book by the cover when you meet 47-year-old Susan. Having never married, sharing a flat with her cat has given her a cheeky sense of humour, and even the judges were ready to write her off, until - that is - until she began performing her rendition of 'I Dreamed a Dream' from Les Miserables... Martin Shaw in the company of Pat Phoenix on Good Morning Britain when "Cross my Heart and Hope to Die" was released. Rare footage of him in "Achilles Heel" (1972), his first stunt in "The Professionals". I was very glad to find this interview - not only because of the Achilles Heel and the Buddhist monk clips, but also because when it comes to The Pros he has said and expressed much more than is usually quoted. Here's something from a 1983 TV interview (thanks to the Dave Matthews site) : "No, no, I don't hate it. There were bits I liked and bits I didn't. But nobody's interested in the bits I liked they only want to know about the bits I hated. The ghost in my room wanted to scare me so badly
The notion to move your head
Doesn't work when you're stuck to the bed
Oh doesn't work when you're stuck to the bed
And they all knew that I bought this house
I paid with my own blood and sweat
And who's gonna drive me out?
Those apparitions in the corner I'll bet
Those apparitions in the corner I'll bet
So bring it on
Bring it on
Bring it on
And don't you think you can bring those kids in this
house
Don't walk away from me and don't put words in my mouth
If you use that kind of language in here, out you go
If you smoke that cigarette in here, out you go
Well you thought you could get away with it this time
around
Thought you could walk in at 4am without making a sound
Well we don't really care what they think about our
stupid songs
