‘tis the season.

For Yael Aflalo, the founder and CEO of Reformation the sustainable clothing label every it-girl (think Alex Chung to Karlie Kloss) has worn, a holiday capsule collection with luxury e-tailer Net-a-Porter was a no brainer.

And for us, the relationship was like seeing the fashion stars align.

The collection itself looks to Studio 54 for inspiration, with 11 new designs and three signature Reformation pieces making up the velvet laden collection. So how does one navigate party dressing like a seasoned professional?

What advice do you have for navigating the party season like a pro?
“That plunging necklines are fully acceptable.”

What advice do you have for avoiding party dressing pitfalls?
“When in doubt, wear a slip dress. It’s easy, sexy, plus you get to be comfortable all night.”

Talk us through the collection. Your starting point, inspiration and fabrics?
“I think Reformation has become known as a go-to for sexy, feminine dresses for the holiday party season - girls have a million things to go to this time of year and they need a great dress for all of them. We agreed on a concept then reworked styles, making sure to highlight some of our classic Reformation pieces as well as some new trend pieces. Net-a-Porter really loved the ideas and customised the styles and colours for their customers’ needs. We find inspiration everywhere, a lot from street style and magazines, but a lot of it comes from the girls we know, people in our office and stores, and our customers. The company has always been about making clothes we'd actually want to wear ourselves. Like all of our clothes at Reformation, we used three sources of materials: repurposed vintage pieces, recycled dead stock fabric and super sustainable materials like Tencel.”
