We were on of the first people to tell you that Padmavati was going on floors from November 01. While it was widely speculated that Deepika Padukone would kick start the proceedings, we mentioned to you guys a few weeks back that it would be Ranveer Singh who would start shooting for the movie first. And yesterday, on November 01, Ranveer started off things in style. The actor, who has been prepping for Padmavati since a while now, was on the sets on time and his look for the film will leave you stunned. No, the picture above is not his entire look. Though he will have a pumped body like the one in the picture, his look for Padmavati is very different. And while it is being closely guarded, we have got some details for you.
You all must remember Ranveer Singh‘s killer look for Bajirao Mastani and how the actor had transformed completely for the the movie. Similarly, the star has transformed himself for Padmavati too and his look will be even more stunning than his last film. As a close source told Mumbai Mirror, “For Peshwa Bajirao, he shaved his head, for Khilji (his character in Padmavati) he will be wearing a shoulder-length wig. Bare-chested, with only a black shawl covering his torso, he (Ranveer) marched around with the conviction of a Sultan (yesterday).”
Sanjay Leelal Bhansali had conducted innumerable costume trials and script reading sessions with his actors before kicking things off and looks like he has picked out the perfect look for Ranveer. While the star has started shooting for Padmavati at Film city, Goregoan (Mumbai), he will soon be joined by Deepika and Shahid too. For those who don’t know, let me tell you that Padmavati is based upon a folklore. Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh) hears that the queen of Mewar – Rani Padmavati (Deepika Padukone) is one of the most beautiful ladies in the country. The tyrant goes to Mewar to see her and while it was not allowed for a married woman to appear before a stranger, his husband – Raja Raval Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor) let Alauddin see her through a mirror’s reflection. The cruel leader fell in love with her and wanted her to be his. Alauddin waged a war against the Rajputs, but they retaliated. But when the Rani came to know that they were going to be defeated, she killed herself by committing jauhar (self immolation) to protect her dignity. Coming back to the shooting, Ranveer has completely immersed himself into the psyche of Alauddin Khilji, which is his darkest character till date. He moved into his Goregoan apartment, where he had locked himself up during Bajirao Mastani‘s prep too. He has been taking diction lessons there and keeps practicing his lines. According to the tabloid, Ranveer and the crew will shoot for a four to five days more. After which, they will move to the lavish set of Rani Padmavati’s Water Palace from the Chittorgarh Fort, that has been created in the Mehboob Studio. Deepika will kick start her shoot at the set and will shoot for a traditional Rajasthani ghoomar style dance first, followed by a few of her solo shots.
