AFTER Prince Harry defended his new girlfriend Meghan Markle from what he called a “wave of abuse and harassment,” the actress has reportedly asked for time off from filming her TV show.
Insiders tell The New York Post the beauty has told her bosses that she needs to skip filming for her TV show Suits in Toronto, Canada this week because she has “something important to do.”
The reason for the absence is being kept a closely guarded secret, but insiders speculate that Markle is meeting with lawyers to help manage her turbulent and sudden rise to international fame.
On Tuesday, Prince Harry released an unprecedented statement, lambasting the press and “social-media trolls” for hassling his paramour.
A letter released by Kensington Palace on his behalf claims that there had been “racial undertones” in some of the coverage about the LA native — who has one white parent and one African-American parent and describes herself as bi-racial.
“Prince Harry is worried about Ms Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her,” read the message. “It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm.”

Insiders say Markle, who has starred on Suits for six years, may be struggling to come to terms with the overwhelming attention.
“She comes across as just a regular girl,” says a source. “She’s stunning in person, but not everyone knew who she was. And she’s everywhere now.”
Plus there have been painful headlines after her own sister described her as “shallow” in an interview with The Sun in the UK.
Markle and Prince Harry reportedly met at a May event for his Invictus Games in Toronto and have been a couple since June.
Prince Harry emerged in public on Thursday for the first time since confirming his relationship with Markle, joining his granddad Prince Philip for a military ceremony.
The British royal and the Duke of Edinburgh, 95, visited the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey to honour those who lost their lives in battle.
The royals are both military veterans. The second son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana served two tours of duty in Afghanistan during his 10-year stint. His grandfather served in the Royal Navy during World War II.
Reps for Markle didn’t respond to a request for comment, and a rep for Suits declined to comment.
