This is obviously just my experience, and this is definitely not going to be how everybody sees it. But yeah.

Cambridge Vlog 73 | There are lots of myths surrounding entry requirements for Cambridge. The admissions process is not as mysterious as you think. It's not so much a set of hurdles for you to overcome but rather a situation in which you present an admissions tutor with a complete picture of yourself. This is everything including your personal statement, your AS results, predicted grades, reference, interviews, entrance exams, etc. They will then assess you based on everything together. If you're an exceptional candidate overall but did badly in one AS subject that won't automatically cost you your place. At the end of the day, it's humans who decide whether to give you an offer or not.
I also moaned about doing laundry a lot in this video.

Alejandra nos cita en Magdalene's Bridge, el primer puente de Cambridge, y nos habla de la universidad como motor de la ciudad y como auténtica forma de vida. Conseguimos permiso excepcionalmente para grabar en el interior del Saint John College, uno de los 31 "colegios mayores". Y entre capillas e iglesias, damos con una muy particular: Saint Michael's, del siglo XIV, que funciona además como cafetería. Paseamos por parques y jardines como Castle Hill o Jesus Green y nos desplazamos a Stratford upon-Avon, a unas dos horas al oeste y a pocos kilómetros de Birmingham, para conocer la casa natal de William Shakespeare.
Con Sara visitamos Market Square, donde hay un mercado permanente y paseamos por el centro. A unos 40 kilómetros de Cambridge se encuentra Peterborough, donde encontramos la bonita catedral normanda, una de las pocas muestras de este estilo que quedan en Europa, y donde está enterrada una madrileña: Catalina de Aragón. En Newmarket, a media hora de Cambridge, visitamos la cuna de las carreras de caballos, y de vuelta pasamos por el cementerio americano y conocemos el origen de los tradicionales pubs ingleses. Paseamos por los idílicos prados de Grantchester, en los que se inspiró Lord Byron para escribir sus poemas, y nos tomamos el té en The Orchard Garden.
Por último, quedamos con Noelia en la puerta del King's College, uno de los edificios más fotografiados de Cambridge, y paseamos entre algunos de los principales colegios de la ciudad. Comemos caramelos artesanos y hacemos "punting", es decir, paseamos en barca por el río disfrutando de la grandiosidad de los colleges. Cambridge
Cambridge (/ˈkeɪmbrɪdʒ/KAYM-brij) is a university city and the county town of Cambridgeshire, England, on the River Cam about 50 miles (80 km) north of London. At the United Kingdom Census 2011, its population was 123,867, including 24,488 students.
There is archaeological evidence of settlement in the area in the Bronze Age and in Roman Britain; under Viking rule, Cambridge became an important trading centre. The first town charters were granted in the 12th century, although city status was not conferred until 1951.
Cambridge is the home of the University of Cambridge, founded in 1209 and one of the top five universities in the world. The university includes the Cavendish Laboratory, King's College Chapel, and the Cambridge University Library. The Cambridge skyline is dominated by the last two buildings, along with the spire of the Our Lady and the English Martyrs Church, the chimney of Addenbrooke's Hospital and St John's College Chapel tower.
Cambridge is at the heart of the high-technology Silicon Fen with industries such as software and bioscience and many start-up companies spun out of the university. Over 40% of the workforce have a higher education qualification, more than twice the national average. Cambridge is also home to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, one of the largest biomedical research clusters in the world, soon to be home to AstraZeneca, a hotel and relocated Papworth Hospital.

Cambridge Vlog 73 | There are lots of myths surrounding entry requirements for Cambridge. The admissions process is not as mysterious as you think. It's not so much a set of hurdles for you to overcome but rather a situation in which you present an admissions tutor with a complete picture of yourself. This is everything including your personal statement, your AS results, predicted grades, reference, interviews, entrance exams, etc. They will then assess you based on everything together. If you're an exceptional candidate overall but did badly in one AS subject that won't automatically cost you your place. At the end of the day, it's humans who decide whether to give you an offer or not.
I also moaned about doing laundry a lot in this video.

Sólo 120.000 habitantes, pero una referencia mundial en el campo educativo. Y es que en la prestigiosa universidad de Cambridge, corazón de esta ciudad, han estudiado hasta 90 premios Nobel. Cultura, deporte y los tradicionales pubs completan una oferta turística al alcance de cualquiera.
Alejandra nos cita en Magdalene's Bridge, el primer puente de Cambridge, y nos habla de la universidad como motor de la ciudad y como auténtica forma de vida. Conseguimos permiso excepcionalmente para grabar en el interior del Saint John College, uno de los 31 "colegios mayores". Y entre capillas e iglesias, damos con una muy particular: Saint Michael's, del siglo XIV, que funciona además como cafetería. Paseamos por parques y jardines como Castle Hill o Jesus Green y nos desplazamos a Stratford upon-Avon, a unas dos horas al oeste y a pocos kilómetros de Birmingham, para conocer la casa natal de William Shakespeare.
Con Sara visitamos Market Square, donde hay un mercado permanente y paseamos por el centro. http://worldlifilm.com | I visited Cambridge, England on a gig shooting at a conference for George Soros' Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET). It was a dream job, as I got paid to shoot a high-level conference in the VJ-style I specialize in. I also got to travel around England and shoot some travel videos! This is the first travel film I have ever shot completely on a Flip Mino HD. I love it because it is very easy to shoot with, and I can carry it anywhere without having to bring a backpack or worry about my big camera. However, the audio sucks and the images leave a little to be desired. But then again, I shot this video in the first hour I was there - I most likely wouldn't have shot anything if I had to bring out the big camera. So it's a tradeoff. Let me know what...

But so too there is plentiful opportunity to come up for air, relaxing in the manicured college gardens, punting along the beautiful river 'backs' and roaming the lush water meadows that run out of the city.
And of course Cambridge is no mere repository of history and charm, it is very much a living city; its narrow streets are alive with the click and whirr of cyclists. The river is clogged with red-faced rowers, drifting punts and on occasion floundering freshmen. College porters still potter around in bowler hats, while gowned students wine and dine in cavernous medieval halls. Historic pubs echo with the same equal mix of intellectual banter and rowdy merrymaking that they have for centuries past. And a new generation of designer boutiques, coffee houses and slick nightlife venues is finding its niche in among the intriguing passageways and medieval doorways of the old town.

Cambridge Travel Video - Few cities can take the breath away quite like Cambridge. It's not just its tightly packed core of exquisite architecture, or even the mind-boggling mass of brain power that has passed through its world-famous university, but also it's the sensation of drowning in history, tradition and quirky ritual that only seems to deepen the more you discover. But so too there is plentiful opportunity to come up for air, relaxing in the manicured college gardens, punting along the beautiful river 'backs' and roaming the lush water meadows that run out of the city.
And of course Cambridge is no mere repository of history and charm, it is very much a living city; its narrow streets are alive with the click and whirr of cyclists. The river is clogged with red-faced rowers, drifting punts and on occasion floundering freshmen. College porters still potter around in bowler hats, while gowned students wine and dine in cavernous medieval halls. Historic pubs echo with the same equal mix of intellectual banter and rowdy merrymaking that they have for centuries past. And a new generation of designer boutiques, coffee houses and slick nightlife venues is finding its niche in among the intriguing passageways and medieval doorways of the old town.

It was a dream job, as I got paid to shoot a high-level conference in the VJ-style I specialize in. I also got to travel around England and shoot some travel videos!
This is the first travel film I have ever shot completely on a Flip Mino HD. I love it because it is very easy to shoot with, and I can carry it anywhere without having to bring a backpack or worry about my big camera. However, the audio sucks and the images leave a little to be desired. But then again, I shot this video in the first hour I was there - I most likely wouldn't have shot anything if I had to bring out the big camera.
So it's a tradeoff. Let me know what you think in the comments: was this film decent? Or did the quality drop because I was using the smaller camera, compared to my other recent stuff?

Hey Everyone, I hope you are all doing good. Here is the much anticipated video of me and my bestfriend Renee talking about how we got into Oxford and Cambridge. We were the first two black girls in our schools to go to Oxbridge and I believe we were 2 of 3 people our school had ever sent to Oxbridge so we were really proud of ourselves. And for this reason, HELPING BLACK PEOPLE INTO OXBRIDGE AND OTHER RUSSELL GROUPS IS IMPORTANT TO US!! So the Cambridge University ACS (i'm there Vice President) held there 'Student Sessions' for the Cambridge University Open Day on the 30th of June and it was very successful. It was really nice meeting so many black students who wanted to apply and who were subbies. It was a space where you could come and ask us who were here all the questions you had. ...

NOW, Oxford University ACS (Renee is President) are running a conference with the support of the University of Oxford admissions department to help young people from state schools in year 12 of African/Caribbean descent with their university applications to Oxford and other higher educations institutions.
THIS WILL HAPPEN IN LONDON AT THE CLIFFORD CHANCE OFFICES ON THE 12TH OF JULY 2016 FROM 8.45AM-5.30PM.
There will be free refreshments, a chance to network with undergrads and alumni, as well as potential travel reimbursements. If you know anyone or if you yourself fit these criteria, please email their/your name, email adress and details to contact@annualaccessconference.co.uk , or alternatively get in touch with Oxford ACS to sign up. Whether or not you have thought of Oxford, help us help the next generation of young, black talented kids.

IELTS
IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is used as the language of communication. IELTS is required for entry to university in the UK and other countries.
Who is it for?
IELTS is recognised by universities and employers in many countries, including Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK and the USA. It is also recognised by professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies.

What is the IELTS test like?
You can choose between the Academic or General Training versions of the test. All candidates do the same Listening and Speaking sections.
The test has four sections:

Speaking - interview, 15 minutes
Reading - different for Academic or General Training - 3 sections, 40 questions, 60 minutes
Writing - different for Academic or General Training - 2 pieces of writing, 60 minutes
