Town centre
The town centre is the term used to refer to the commercial or geographical centre or core area of a town.
Town centres are traditionally associated with shopping or retail. They are also the centre of communications with major public transport hubs such as train or bus stations. Public buildings including town halls, museums and libraries are often found in town centres.
Town centres are symbolic to settlements as a whole and often contain the best examples of architecture, main landmark buildings, statues and public spaces associated with a place.
Canada
In some areas of Canada, particularly large, urban areas, town centres refer to alternate commercial areas to the city's downtown. These centres are usually located within a large neighbourhood and characterized by medium-high density commercial and residential property.
Ireland
The town mall historically consisted of a principal thoroughfare usually known as High Street or Main Street in Ireland (Main Street America being a loosely similar equivalent to town centre in the US) or a town square or triangle of a settlement where commercial activities took place such as markets.

In answer to previous questions, the car was a yellow Renault of some kind, with Lee (my cousin) driving while I recorded, using a JVC video camera with a cable connector to a full size VHS recorder running a 12v lead acid battery. Flying my Q500 quadcopter over Redditch town centre, as the sun goes down around 6pm one Sunday evening, early in March. My brother Freddie is with me. This film is made up of shots from two locations either side of town. You can see the Q500's CGO-2 camera image become grainier and unsharp as the light fades. Filmed at 1080p 60fps and edited in iMovie on Mac. My brother Will can be seen approaching around 8 minutes in this video. He came to join us, as we happened to be flying near his house. Loughborough Town centre Fun Fair November 2014 Afternoon Walkabout
The video shown here is of my walkabout about Loughborough Town Centre Funfair in the early afternoon of the final day of its four day period of operation - viz Saturday November the 15th 2014. Although it lacks the impact and immersive atmosphere of an earlier evening excursion (shown in another recently issued video), the images in their superb high definition form enable a more objective appraisal to be made of the absolute quality of this annual event. This funfair is absolutely super and I feel privileged to be able to present this video. I would like to think that I might be able to do the same again next year!!! Please keep your fingers crossed. 'How to Act in Public' A full length, stabilized and enhanced version of the Bedford UK 1985 video. In answer to previous questions, the car was a yellow Renault of some kind, with Lee (my cousin) driving while I recorded, using a JVC video camera with a cable connector to a full size VHS recorder running a 12v lead acid battery. The first time this was on YT it had 37,000 hits, but it was deleted.The music was recorded by myself and Lee, we were only messing about with my synths at the time and would have done a better job had we known that people would be watching 29 years later.Lee is bass player with Bedford band 'The Life of Riley', check out more ancient clips on Emerton321 YouTube channel.
On The Embankment, what was the Plaza (aka Century, aka The Nite Spot) is demolished, but you can still see red paint on the wall where the projection room would have been. The building still standing was the museum at this time, although it was originally built as a skating rink (afaik, sorry if this is not strictly true). If you watch the Raft Race video on the Emerton321 YT channel, you can see the museum in the background as this was filmed from the other side of the river.
Further to other enquiries, I have no idea who the singing students were, we told them we were making an avant-garde film and recorded what they did!

Flying my Q500 quadcopter over Redditch town centre, as the sun goes down around 6pm one Sunday evening, early in March. My brother Freddie is with me.
This film is made up of shots from two locations either side of town. You can see the Q500's CGO-2 camera image become grainier and unsharp as the light fades.
Filmed at 1080p 60fps and edited in iMovie on Mac.
My brother Will can be seen approaching around 8 minutes in this video. He came to join us, as we happened to be flying near his house.
For the record, none of the litter in the car park was left by us!
The first piece of music was composed by myself and is called 'Little Chopper'.
The second piece was also written by me and is called 'Big Chopper'!
The third piece of music was composed and performed by Freddie Miller and is called 'Grandad'.
The final piece was written and played by Freddie Miller and is called 'The Journey'.
By coincidence, there happened to be two guys flying an RC helicopter when we arrived at B&Q; carpark.

Although it lacks the impact and immersive atmosphere of an earlier evening excursion (shown in another recently issued video), the images in their superb high definition form enable a more objective appraisal to be made of the absolute quality of this annual event. This funfair is absolutely super and I feel privileged to be able to present this video. I would like to think that I might be able to do the same again next year!!! Please keep your fingers crossed.
