Contribuyó de manera decisiva a la independencia de las actuales Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panamá, Perú y Venezuela.
En 1813 le fue concedido el título honorífico de Libertador por el Cabildo de Mérida en Venezuela que, tras serle ratificado en Caracas ese mismo año, quedó asociado a su nombre. Los problemas para llevar adelante sus planes fueron tan frecuentes que llegó a afirmar de sí mismo que era "el hombre de las dificultades" en una carta dirigida al general Francisco de Paula Santander en 1825.
Participó en la fundación de la Gran Colombia, nación que intentó consolidar como una gran confederación política y militar en América, de la cual fue Presidente. Bolívar es considerado por sus acciones e ideas el "Hombre de América" y una destacada figura de la Historia Universal, ya que dejó un legado político en diversos países latinoamericanos, algunos de los cuales le han convertido en objeto de veneración nacionalista. Ha recibido honores en varias partes del mundo a través de estatuas o monumentos, parques, plazas, etc. Así mismo, sus ideas y posturas política-sociales dieron origen a una corriente o postura llamada Bolivarianismo.

Bolívar recorrió 123 mil kilómetros, más que lo que hicieron Colón y Vasco de Gama juntos.
Fue Presidente de la República de cinco países (seis, actualmente).

Venezuela está en guerra. El país se encuentra dividido en dos mitades. Hay familias enteras desgajadas en bandos opuestos.
Corre el año de 1815 y la Segunda República cae estrepitosamente. El gran derrotado es Simón Bolívar, recién nombrado Libertador, quien sale fugitivo desde Cartagena, con la muerte pisándole los talones.
Bolívar llega a Jamaica en medio de las peores dificultades, sin dinero ni amigos. Busca ayuda de otras naciones para liberar a América. Europa le cierra las puertas. El presidente de la rebelde Haití acepta recibirlo y escuchar sus propuestas. Esta noticia le devuelve el ánimo. Lo que ignora es que ya en la isla está listo un complot para asesinarlo. La conjura falla, pero Bolívar se va hacia Haití muy abatido.
En Haití los problemas no cesan. Allá llegan los patriotas venezolanos que huyen de la caída Cartagena, dispuestos a bajar del pedestal de jefe al Libertador. En medio de una acalorada asamblea, Bolívar propone liberar a los esclavos para escándalo de muchos, pero será esta propuesta la que cambie los vientos de victoria a su favor.
Bolívar zarpa de Haití como comandante de una pequeña pero valiente flota, dispuesta a dar la vida por sus ideales. Se inicia una nueva batalla de las muchas que librará el Hombre de las Dificultades por llevar la libertad a la América hispana.
Bolívar, el hombre de las dificultades, es una producción de la Villa del Cine, Alter Producciones Audiovisuales y el Instituto de Arte e Industria de Cuba, en coproducción con Wanda Films de España Lusa Films y TVE. Todos ellos se unieron, en el marco de la "Colección Libertadores", para retratar el año del destierro caribeño de Simón Bolívar. Una historia poco conocida que cuenta uno de los años más dramáticos en la vida de El Libertador, desde mayo 1815 a mayo 1816, en toda su dimensión humana.
"Bolívar, el hombre de las dificultades", fue realizada por un equipo de más de 200 personas desplegado en Argentina, España, Cuba, Antigua, Guadalupe, Estados Unidos y Venezuela. Contó con 3000 extras y un elenco de grandes figuras: Roque Valero, Jorge Reyes, Beatriz Valdés, Paula Woyzechowsky, Robny Piñango, Gilbert Laumord, Camila Arteche, Juvel Vielma, Alberto Alifa, Rafael Gil, Daniel Rodríguez y Samantha Dagnino.
"Bolívar, el hombre de las dificultades", conjuga drama, romance y aventura en una película dirigida por Luis Alberto Lamata, cineasta responsable de contar los más interesantes capítulos de la historia de Venezuela en la gran pantalla.

Simón Bolívar (IPA: [siˈmon boˈliβar]), in full Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar y Palacios (24 July 1783 – 17 December 1830), was a Venezuelan military and political leader who played an instrumental role in the establishment of Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru and Colombia as sovereign states, independent of Spanish rule.
Bolívar was born into a wealthy, aristocratic Creole family, and similar to others of his day, he was educated in Europe at a young age, arriving in Spain at the age of 16. There, he was introduced to the thoughts and ideas of learned Enlightenment philosophers, which filled him with the ambition to replace the Spanish as rulers. Taking advantage of the disorder in Spain prompted by the Peninsular War, Bolívar inaugurated his campaign for independence in 1808, appealing to the wealthy creole population by seeking freedom through a conservative process and had an organized national congress established within three years. Despite a number of hindrances, including the arrival of an unprecedented large Spanish expeditionary force, the revolutionaries eventually prevailed, culminating in a patriot victory at the Battle of Carabobo in 1821, which effectively made Venezuela a truly independent country.

Bolívar es considerado por sus acciones e ideas el "Hombre de América" y una destacada figura de la Historia Universal, ya que dejó un legado político en diversos países latinoamericanos, algunos de los cuales le han convertido en objeto de veneración nacionalista. Ha recibido honores en varias partes del mundo a través de estatuas o monumentos, parques, plazas, etc. Así mismo, sus ideas y posturas política-sociales dieron origen a una corriente o postura llamada Bolivarianismo.

Venezuela está en guerra. El país se encuentra dividido en dos mitades. Hay familias enteras desgajadas en bandos opuestos.
Corre el año de 1815 y la Segunda República cae estrepitosamente. El gran derrotado es Simón Bolívar, recién nombrado Libertador, quien sale fugitivo desde Cartagena, con la muerte pisándole los talones.
Bolívar llega a Jamaica en medio de las peores dificultades, sin dinero ni amigos. Busca ayuda de otras naciones para liberar a América. Europa le cierra las puertas. El presidente de la rebelde Haití acepta recibirlo y escuchar sus propuestas. Esta noticia le devuelve el ánimo. Lo que ignora es que ya en la isla está listo un complot para asesinarlo. La conjura falla, pero Bolívar se va hacia Haití muy abatido.
En Haití los problemas no cesan. Allá llegan los patriotas venezolanos que huyen de la caída Cartagena, dispuestos a bajar del pedestal de jefe al Libertador. En medio de una acalorada asamblea, Bolívar propone liberar a los esclavos para escándalo de muchos, pero será esta propuesta la que cambie los vientos de victoria a su favor.
Bolívar zarpa de Haití como comandante de una pequeña pero valiente flota, dispuesta a dar la vida por sus ideales. Se inicia una nueva batalla de las muchas que librará el Hombre de las Dificultades por llevar la libertad a la América hispana.
Bolívar, el hombre de las dificultades, es una producción de la Villa del Cine, Alter Producciones Audiovisuales y el Instituto de Arte e Industria de Cuba, en coproducción con Wanda Films de España Lusa Films y TVE. Todos ellos se unieron, en el marco de la "Colección Libertadores", para retratar el año del destierro caribeño de Simón Bolívar. Una historia poco conocida que cuenta uno de los años más dramáticos en la vida de El Libertador, desde mayo 1815 a mayo 1816, en toda su dimensión humana.
"Bolívar, el hombre de las dificultades", fue realizada por un equipo de más de 200 personas desplegado en Argentina, España, Cuba, Antigua, Guadalupe, Estados Unidos y Venezuela. Contó con 3000 extras y un elenco de grandes figuras: Roque Valero, Jorge Reyes, Beatriz Valdés, Paula Woyzechowsky, Robny Piñango, Gilbert Laumord, Camila Arteche, Juvel Vielma, Alberto Alifa, Rafael Gil, Daniel Rodríguez y Samantha Dagnino.
"Bolívar, el hombre de las dificultades", conjuga drama, romance y aventura en una película dirigida por Luis Alberto Lamata, cineasta responsable de contar los más interesantes capítulos de la historia de Venezuela en la gran pantalla.

Interview with Gustavo Dudamel about El Sistema.
As principal conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony, Dudamel opened the door to starting up the renowned Venezuelan musical education programme El Sistema in Sweden. The world-famous conductor is the product of El Sistema in Venezuela, where he was music director of the Simón Bolívar national youth orchestra in Caracas. His message is that music must reach out to all citizens, to all children, as a basic human right. Music makes us grow as human beings.
With Gustavo Dudamel at the forefront, El Sistema in Sweden adopted the Venezuelan model of training orchestras and choirs: music as a tool for building community. In 2007 Dudamel became the principal conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony; in 2009 he became music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic; and in 2010 he was named Gothenburger of the year. Today Dudamel is an honorary conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony.
The interview with Dudamel was shot in the conductor's office at the Gothenburg Concert Hall. It is part of a series of film shorts about El Sistema by Sergio Joselovsky, with funding from the Cultural Affairs Secretariat of the Västra Götaland Region, the Angered School of Culture, the Gothenburg Symphony and El Sistema Gothenburg. "Ash vs Evil Dead," a 10-episode half-hour series, is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film, The Evil Dead.
The second season roars back into action with Ash leaving his beloved Jacksonville and returning to his hometown of Elk Grove, Michigan. There, he confronts Ruby. The former enemies have to form an uneasy alliance as Elk Grove soon becomes the nucleus of evil.
The cast is led by Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, "Burn Notice") in the role of Ash Williams; Lucy Lawless ("Salem," "Spartacus") as Ruby Knowby, who now possesses the powerful Necronomicon; Ray Santiago ("Touch," Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, Ash's loyal sidekick dealing with the trauma he suffered in the cabin; and Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, who, grief-stricken after the death of her parents, plots revenge against The Evil Dead. Lee Majors (Do You Believe), Ted Raimi ("Xena: Warrior Princess," Spider-Man) and Michelle Hurd ("Law & Order: SVU") join the cast this year as Brock Williams, Ash's father, Chet Kaminski, Ash's childhood best friend, and Linda, Ash's high school love respectively.
