Politics live: One Nation divisions, senate eligibility woes and same-sex marriage debate

Hanson throws colleague under the bus

One Nation senator Rod Culleton delivers a defiant speech to the Senate, as leader Pauline Hanson supports scrutiny into his eligibility to serve.

Senator Roberts has "proved" (and please remember I'm just going with what he says) that carbon dioxide emissions from human related activities do not contribute to climate change.

In case 99% of the international scientific community disagrees with him, he says the reason there are myriad reports saying the opposite is because they rely on corrupted data from NASA, the Bureau of Meteorology.

The United Nations is also somehow to blame.

And he's off to a flying start saying he wants to introduce three new concepts to his audience - "no danger", "fabricated data" and "group think".

It's okay, though, because Senator Roberts has evidence.

It's like the complete opposite of the time Clive Palmer did a press conference with Al Gore.

In case you're wondering the press conference is about climate change which, as you would know, One Nation assiduously denies is happening.

We're going to go first to a One Nation press conference, its first since the election. In fact I can't remember one being held during the campaign either.

A "press call" went out last night which caused some mirth since Pauline Hanson's name was spelt incorrectly not once but four times. The 's' was left out.

Hello and welcome to what is going to be a doozy of a day in politics.

Alex Ellinghausen, Andrew Meares and I are here to take you through the day's events.

It's a pleasure to have your company.
