As the dust settles on the US election result, the influx of Americans to Australia has already begun - led by none other than a Collingwood player.
As the news filtered through of Donald Trump's likely US election success, the haven for those US citizens who were unhappy with the outcome looked set to be Canada - right up until the Canadian immigration website crashed.
But that news wouldn't have bothered American big man Mason Cox, who already had a contingency plan in place. He has, in fact, had one for some time - and he let everyone know about it in March this year.
The day Donald Trump is sworn into presidency is the day I start the process to become an Australian citizen. #Americanpolitics

He received plenty of support at the time, with only one or two people suggesting that he could only stay if he ditched the Magpies jumper.
In fact, Cox had plans to become a dual citizen before the 2016 election. He has lived in Australia for two years already, and intends to stay.
With this crazy election at home I just want to move to the opposite side of the world and live on an island... Oh wait nvm ✔ #RIPUSA

Cox is not alone in his method of voicing displeasure with the state of US politics. Plenty of American celebrities had announced they would move in with their northern neighbours if the billionaire businessman was voted into office. On election night itself, Snoop Dogg even put the call out to Drake via Instagram for "the hookup for some property".
Reuters reported that interest in the search term "move to Canada" spiked during the election results broadcast, with most of the interest coming from the US.

But only one American got the official invitation to join Cox in Australia: outgoing vice president - and Cox's footy-going mate - Joe Biden.
Hey @JoeBiden I have a pullout couch if you need for the next four years. #becominganaustraliancitizen https://t.co/ERxDYBYa1H

Cox and Carlton rookie Matt Korchek played host to Biden earlier this year, at a Carlton-West Coast match at the MCG.

There's been no word yet on whether Biden will accept the generous offer.
