Port Macquarie and Pascoe Vale buyers in heated contest for Sunbury home

BUYERS from Port Macquarie and Pascoe Vale have engaged in a “bidding war” to secure a substantial Sunbury home, according to a local agent.

Barry Plant Sunbury’s Daniel Abt said the hotly contested five-bedroom house with four bathrooms at 14 James Close sold for $655,000, after about three weeks on the market.

The double-storey house in the Killara Estate was purchased by the family from Port Macquarie.

“They saw it on realestate.com and drove down to have a look,” Mr Abt said.

“They had just sold their home and were planning to move to Sunbury before Christmas.

“They fell in love with the property because it had beautiful views of Mt Holden and glimpses of the city. It also had room for a pool and provision for a water slide.”

First-home buyers from Pascoe Vale had made an offer on the property just before the family from Port Macquarie had inspected it, according to Mr Abt.

“These buyers from Pascoe Vale saw value-for-money in the home,” Mr Abt said.

The latest figures from CoreLogic show that the median house price in Sunbury stands at $381,800, compared to $705,000 in Pascoe Vale.

“A mini bidding war between the two parties began a couple of hours later,” Mr Abt said.

“The vendors accepted the buyers’ offer because it was unconditional.

“This is the way to go in Sunbury’s sellers’ market where vendors have a smorgasbord of offers to choose from.”
